Eminem Takes Suicide Leap In "Not Afraid" Video

The highly anticipated music video for Eminem's smash single "Not Afraid", directed by Rich Lee, premiered exclusively on VEVO Saturday, and premiering throughout the day on MTV and VH1 on Monday, with a special prime-time encore on MTV. Grammy-winning rapper has kept his word on debuting the "Not Afraid" music video by unleashing an artistically drawn visual of his newest single, which is the lead single off of his seventh studio album, "Recovery" that record is ready to drop onto store shelves on June 22. His lyrics offer inspiration within all that anger, and this song is no different.
Unlike the lead singles from Eminem's previous albums, "Not Afraid" is not a comedy hip hop song, instead retaining a much more deep and profound theme. It debuted five weeks ago and entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart at No.1; making it the sixteenth song in Billboard's history to debut at number one and only the second rap single ever to debut at the top spot - a feat that hasn't been achieved by a rapper in almost 15 years. In the song, described as "uplifting" by manager Paul Rosenberg, Eminem tells of how he has tried to overcome the troubles in his life from the past few years, mainly his drug addiction and rehabilitation. He promises he will never leave again and now only has his daughters and his music to focus on.
This song received very positive reviews with special attention to the emotional expression, Eminem's rhyming skills and his reaching out to other producers. Rolling Stone praised Eminem's commitment on his new music and lyrical ability noting "Over a dark, operatic beat, Eminem delivers rhymes that are typically acrobatic and typically heavy-handed. But the anger has a gathering quality."
The new video was shot in Newark, New Jersey on the streets in downtown, and finds himself in various compromising positions which includes a suicide jump and flying abilities. The Slim Shady is seen standing on the rooftop of a skyscraper, looking down the street. In one point, he is seen throwing himself from the edge of a destroyed road. Eminem talked about the video and its concept to Skyrock FM in Paris: "The overall concept is basically just being in a dark place and trying to get to the light." The music swells. Eminem will save us all from ourselves with his motivational rhymes!

Faber Drive Debut The Ballad 'You And I Tonight'

Canadian rock band Faber Drive released the music video for their most recent radio hit "You and I Tonight," the third single off band's sophomore album, Awfully stylized as "can'T keEp A SecrEt," [The capitalized letters forming the word TEASE] is actually one giant leap for these guys. It's the first Seven Second Surgery-esque song released from the album after a follow-up of the fast-tracked first two singles "G-Get Up and Dance" and "Give Him Up."
The spirited pop-punk band Faber Drive is a four-piece, Juno award nominated Canadian pop punk band from the semi-rural Vancouver bedroom community of Mission, British Columbia. Discovered by Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, and signed to his 604 Records label. Faber Drive is a young upstart group trying some very bold things early on in their career so with such exploration bringing out some truly unique musicianship it's going to be interesting where lead vocals and rhythm guitar Dave Faber and company go in the next a couple of years.
The Jeff Johnson power ballad collaboration, "You and I Tonight" is reminiscent of their previous work. The acoustic ballad just has this very captivating melody. It's a very romantic song lyrically speaking and the chorus just pops like really, really high in comparison to the verse. I think "You and I Tonight" is basically about having a romantic date. like there's a candle that lights the room.
The video was directed by Colin Minihan of Digital Interference and produced by Shawn Angeleski. It was a wet night at Terminal City outdoor set in Vancouver, the rain towers and SPFX were done by our friends BrantFX, coincidently the same people and the same film set we collaborated on several years ago for the highly controversial CTV docudrama Pickton, by Academy Award winning director Malcom Clarke.
Taking an intricate look at a band in the leagues of Faber Drive requires a little more effort than most contemporary rock bands on the market. I mean sure they pretty much sound like any other current up and coming artist who can perfect modern production trends. Then everyone has to take into consideration that Faber Drive has borrowed from a wide array of influences whether its lavish backing harmony vocals or extremely infectious choruses Faber Drive has bordered on a modern melodic rock group all the while pushing the envelope and nearly crossing into the dreaded boy band genre.

The Band Perry Debut "If I Die Young" On GAC

The Band Perry has just premiered the music video on Great American Country Television for their new song "If I Die Young," the country music trio's second single off their self-titled EP for Republic Nashville, follows their debut single, "Hip To My Heart," which was a breakthrough, sprightly, effervescent sliver of youth-laden pop country – a pleasant sounding droplet so light that it quickly evaporated into the ether, and became a Top 20 hit on the country singles charts. For its follow up, the sibling trio delivers a thoughtful track with significantly more narrative volume that has gotten a strong reaction from radio, press and fans, "If I Die Young" is a weighty, introspective take on life's evanescence.
The Band Perry are comprised of siblings Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry. The three grew up playing gigs in Mobile, Alabama, and now make their home in eastern Tennessee. After spending years honing their performing and songwriting skills, the trio began writing and collecting songs for their first country music recording.
The video for new song was directed by David McClister (Lady Antebellum, LeAnn Rimes), and was shot at Nashville's historic Two Rivers Mansion. Fittingly, the song opens to the sound of Kimberly taking in a breath. Gentle fiddle and guitar accompany her raspy, almost-hushed delivery of the song's chorus up until a banjo and drum track join in for the first repeat of the refrain. "If I Die Young" remains mostly acoustic throughout, boasting a series of delightful arrangements that underline Kimberly's beautiful vocal performance–she has a rich, slightly weathered voice that really brings home the song's melancholy. Throughout the song, it's a surprisingly interesting and creative entry from a band that at first appeared to be aiming for very little. Here's hoping this is only the beginning of Kimberly's songwriting journey–and that future efforts bring all of these pieces into alignment.
The Band Perry made people on Music Row take notice of them with their debut single, "Hip To My Heart," Now I believe that their second single, "If I Die Young" is looking to have similar success. When I first listened to the song, the message didn't quite make it through. It was an inviting melody, and easy to sing along, but it wasn't until I watched the video that I realized the deeper meaning behind those carefully written lyrics. After watching the video, I felt the need to reflect on what I value most in my own life and whether I've been giving those things enough attention. "If I Die Young" brings to the forefront the idea that no one knows how much longer they have in this life so be optimistic and cherish it while you can.

Kelly Rowland Becomes Your Dance 'Commander'

Former Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland is forging her third attempt at solo stardom with the release of a new techo-inspired dance album, featuring production by French music sensation David Guetta. The Grammy Award-winning singer just released the first music video for "Commander," which has been confirmed as the first single off that upcoming effort, is slated for release on September 14.
The video for "Commander" was filmed on May 5 with Japanese music producer and promo director, Masashi Muto, his work known for scale, impact and colorful imagery. Rowland faces off against herself and gets her groove on in the new video. Dressed in thigh boots and a Wonder Woman/Cat Woman inspired, wedgie causing body suit, the beautiful Rowland embarks on an alter ego dance off that goes absolutely nowhere. The two Rowlands, one is dressed in black, the other in red, start what appears to be a voguing competition on the dancefloor on a piece choreographed by Fatima Robinson, then are flanked by respective dance teams. There's some nice moves and Rowland sports some sexy looks for the video.
The video has a very futuristic feel to it, and it shows Rowland taking charge of those around her as a commander! The 29-year-old singer has talked about the video "The whole concept of the video is very futuristic and great. The red line in the story is that I am above all the lead I but in the club atmosphere with cool people. I fight against myself with my haircut, makeup, and dance moves."
The R&B singer Rowland really is trying to appease her urban fan-base with the release of her official Urban remix for International single "Commander," which is an uptempo, pop, dance song and has received crazy airplay and the reception has been overwhelmingly positive for this track. Rowland even enlists her "Dilemma" collaborator Nelly to spit some verses on the Rico Love/David Guetta helmed track. The "Commander" video really symbolizes how far Kelly has come as a solo artist and how secure she is with her new sound and current career path. We're predicting a full on Rowland Renaissance!

Kylie Minogue Reveals Her Sexy "All The Lovers"

Diminutive pop pixie Kylie Minogue has debuted the highly-anticipated video for new single "All The Lovers" and it's one of her steamiest yet. The track is the lead single off her eleventh emotionally unsupported studio album "Aphrodite," which is due July 5. The new video for "All The Lovers" is one big, mighty, euphoric love fest! Minogue kicks summer into gear, looking more radiant than ever, and it seems to be a love-heals-all and brings peace and the morning sunshine statement.

Just in time for summer, here comes Justin Bieber with a heroic little video ditty of the theme song "Never Say Never" for the upcoming remake film of "The Karate Kid," starring Jackie Chan and Will Smith's son, 11-year old Jaden Smith. The 16-year-old Bieber posted a link to the video for "Never Say Never" on his Twitter page on Monday morning and quickly rocketing it into the social networking site's trending topics.
The young Canadian singer is a one hot little commodity, and with a new album and tour coming up, he was planning the release of music videos for three of his upcoming singles over the next few weeks. Bieber began hinting to his Twitter followers about the release of his first new video. And while many fans expected the "Somebody To Love" video to hit MTV first, But he recently revealed this would not be the first one to debut, but the "Never Say Never" video came out first.

The martial arts film "The Karate Kid" itself is a loose remake of the original 1984 hit movie of the same name. It follows the story of a boy who forced to leave all of his friends in Detroit as his mother gets a job in Beijing. There, he'll encounter a bully situation which forces him to learn how to stand up for himself. He gets a helping hand from an eccentric mentor played by Jackie Chan. Directed by Harald Zwart, this action drama will open wide in U.S. theaters on June 11.

New York Housewife Countess LuAnn de Lesseps has taken her vanity-fueled foray into music one step further and now has something in common with Lady Gaga, a catchy dance music video for her first single, "Money Can't Buy You Class."
