Calvin Harris debuts "Open Wide" feat. Big Sean

With a week to go until Calvin Harris' star-studded fourth studio album "Motion" hits, the 30-year-old Scottish superstar DJ has shared a action-packed new video for his Big Sean-assisted new single "Open Wide," minutes after premiering the audio on New York City-based radio station Hot 97. Along with the refurbished tune comes the explosive video, featuring a gun shootout in the middle of a desert with Harris and Sean right in the middle of it.
More and more dance music producers have been venturing into hip-hop territory, and Harris has done so with "Open Wide," a tune that may sound very familiar to one of his current releases. "Open Wide," is not a new beat from Harris who previously used the same drop and a similar build up on a solo record called "C.U.B.A," Harris' instrumental Beatport No.1 hit, released back in June. Harris took advantage of the incredible success he achieved with "C.U.B.A.," and reworked it into a hip-hop masterpiece.
The big difference between the two songs is the Detroit rapper, who makes another foray into the world of EDM and adds in two energetic and suitable verses that laid on top of the house-meets-trap beat. "Open that shit wide, let me see how big your mouth is," raps Sean over Harris' signature production, adding, "This goes out to...You know who this goes out to." The U.K. hitmaker's new track "Wide Open," is a pretty generic sounding track, but it'll fit right into main stage festival sets.
As for the Emil Nava-directed cinematic clip, it's clearly a high-budget endeavor, featuring high speed racing, guns and pair up two gangs war showdown in the desert with Harris and Sean right in the middle of it that pops off right as the beat drops. As two opposing sides blast shot after shot at each other, all while a ballerina is gracefully dancing in between all of the sheer fuckery, inexplicably moving around while dodging bullets with the dexterity of Keanu Reeves in "The Matrix." It's aesthetically pleasing, but a bit confusing.

Ariana Grande goes glam in a gown "Right There"

Ariana Grande puts her well-established love of princess dresses to work in a new music video for her latest song "Right There," features rapper Big Sean and was released as the third single from Grande's chart-topping debut album, "Yours Truly." Grande scored a hit with Mac Miller and now she enlists another rapper close to her heart, Big Sean, for "Right There." If you liked "The Way," then you'll love this hip-hop-flavored tune, which features Grande's breezy vocals. And it's a modern day Romeo and Juliet-themed visual, except this time the story is loosely told to give the lovers a dose of modern-day truth rather than a vial of poison.
This mid-tempo love song finds the 20-year-old bubblegum-soul songstress trading verses with G.O.O.D. Music MC Big Sean about their feelings on relationships. Whilst Grande croons more traditionally romantic sentiments Sean bigs up his attraction to females. "My black book of numbers thicker than the dictionary," he boasts. The song's producer Harmony Samuels sampled the jazz funk loop from Lil' Kim's hip hop tune "Crush On You." The rapper's 1996 hit single interpolated The Jeff Lorber Fusion's "Rain Dance" from their 1979 album "Water Sign."
Just in time for Halloween, the video takes place at a Victorian style masquerade ball in a grand mansion, and shows tons of sexy costumes in it. The clip features Grande in the pink gown, fluttering her fan, surrounded by ball attendees. The men are in a red, black, and white color palette, while the ladies are dressed in metallic dresses. Everyone seems to be dancing by fanning themselves, so the party is both fun and environmentally-friendly. The video is seductive and smoldering and Grande is stunning in a Marie Antoinette like, rose-colored ballgown and looks more confident than ever, batting her eyelashes and waving a fan.
Directed by the Young Astronauts, the clip stars Grande plays the part of the innocent 'Juliet' as she filters 'Romeo and Juliet' through the campy lens of a late-90's teenage rom-com, attends a masquerade ball, and instead of grabbing her boyfriend Nathan Sykes to play her suave 'Romeo' love interest, she grabbed Arnold Schwarzenegger's 20-year-old model/actor son Patrick for the part. Meanwhile, Sean spits his bars from a priest chair in a sanctuary. As the video comes to a close, the lovers join in on the wet and wild fun as they continue to passionately stare at each other under the firework-filled sky.

Big Sean getting through tough times in "Fire"

Big Sean drops a provocative racy video for "Fire," as a promotional single from his upcoming sophomore studio album, "Hall of Fame," due August 27. The track has its soulful energy. Over colorful synth and a motivational chant, Sean playfully highlights his rap journey. While Sean's flow is as laid-back as ever, he delivers his bars with more than enough power to make himself heard over the scorching instrumental. "It's about getting through the tough times, through the fire, and always evolving. Whether it's in relationships, personal, in your work, etc.," says Sean of the song.
The Detroit rapper calls on Miley Cyrus to play leading lady in the striking visuals, directed by Matthew Williams. In it, Cyrus is seen scantily clad, wears scintillating outfits like a crop top with torn booty shorts and gold lamé lingerie. Combined with some sensual moves in slow motion, writhing on a smoldering block of marble, or simply showing off her killer stems on set. The whole vibe of the video is also spliced between images of a blooming red rose, pink flower and flames in the video, represents Cyrus' growth following a painful breakup. It's all Cyrus all the time, with Sean making a brief appearance as a still image on fire.
The 25-year-old rapper intentionally made Cyrus the centerpiece in "Fire," as he explained: "[It's] a special video for a special song. I got Miley Cyrus for this video because she's somebody who's had a personal evolution as a lot of us have had. Besides all the personal stories I tell in the song, there are so many other ways people can make it through the fire. I think Miley did a great job as a metaphor for strong women, being strong person after heartbreak, or maybe even deeper problems but in the end remaining as elegant as a rose. It's a cool visual that has a cool concept and meaning to it."
In fact, the clip, is a stylishly serene affair - apart from Cyrus breaking a red rose like a vase, not much actually happens in its almost three minutes. That's because Sean wanted there to be "a lot of metaphors," and he wanted Cyrus to bring them to life. "I wanted somebody who was beautiful and I wanted to take her out of her element. People looking at her like she's twerking and all this stuff, but she's an awesome person and she's cool. She symbolizes the beauty of a lot of women. Women overcoming different relationships and being as beautiful as a flower. You'll see a lot of metaphors in the video." Watch Cyrus model for Sean.

Jessie J channels her inner "Wild" side

Right as she finishes her new album, Jessie J released the music video, a little earlier then expected, for her uptempo, high-energy new track, "Wild," the lead single from Jessie J's upcoming as-yet-untitled sophomore album, follow-up to her 2011 debut, "Who You Are." The 25-year-old British "Price Tag" singer won't let a broken foot slow her down and is going to "Wild" out. Her new single "Wild" has been met with a hugely enthusiastic response from fans and bloggers since its release, and has reached number three on the iTunes chart only a few hours after its debut.
Produced by Ammo, and co-written by Claude Kelly, "Wild" is an inspiring gritty pop/urban anthem and a beast of a song and chorus is so strong. It is kind of reminiscing to Ke$ha's "Sleazy" song. Big Sean and Dizzee Rascal add rap verses to "Wild" and help the British pop singer find her new run-the-world-girls attitude by dropping verses on her latest dance-infused track. At first listen, fans of Jessie J's more bubbly Pop-oriented songs may assume that "Wild" is too much of a detour from her previous material. Yet, that is the beauty of Jessie J!
Jessie J is probably the most badass vocal presence in the game right now, but She has never been confined to a single genre, and her debut album included a mix of Pop, Soul and R&B. So, "Wild" should easily cater to at least one sector of her broad fanbase. Additionally, "Wild" is perfect for the current US radio climate, which has depicted an upturn in Urban-oriented music during the last few months. "Wild" really caters to a wide audience with plenty of different sounds infused and a catchy chorus to give it hit potential. While revealed as a thumping anthem to resilience, "Wild" also holds true to expectations that Jessie J would show off her agile and powerful voice, even if at the expense of others.
Jessie J puts down her old world glamour and channels her inner wild side in the Emil Nava-directed clip for "Wild," which also features rappers Big Sean and Dizzee Rascal, shows Jessie J's heels clack as she struts through an empty warehouse, and walking onto the video's set with her blonde shaven hairstyle, before close-ups of her fierce gazes and outfits flash onto the screen and  takes off her top revealing the upper half of her sexy, black two-piece outfit that she struts in front of a clean, white background for a monochrome effect. After she drops the first verse and the catchy hook, showcasing her big vocals, Big Sean enters the scene with his rap assist, then Dizzee Rascal steps in for his solo in the track, for a double-dose of urban-oriented music.

Justin Bieber Debuts "As Long As You Love Me"

Justin Bieber leaves behind his "Baby" days and shows some growing up in the brand-new video for his R&B and dubstep summer single "As Long As You Love Me," as a promotional single and the second single from his third studio album, "Believe," and is about the trials and tribulations young lovers would go through to be together. The five-plus-minute short film is gritty and quite dramatic.
"As Long as You Love Me," featuring rapper Big Sean, is Bieber's first foray into dubstep. Canadian pop star persuaded producer Rodney Jerkins to add the dubstep-heavy sonics after a trip to London, where the bass-driven type of electronic music is all over the radio. Bieber testifies how true love can overcome all circumstances on this "Believe" electro jam and it's a far cry from Bieber's "Baby" days, both literally and figuratively.
The 18-year-old singer teamed up again with director Anthony Mandler, who tones down the excess in favor of a genuine grittiness. Unlike the subtle maturity in Bieber's first "Boyfriend" clip which look like child's play. If that clip was a fantasy ride, well, then this gritty new mini-film for "As Long As You Love Me," is a reality trip. Adulthood isn't all fun and games, after all. This generation's superstar is trying making it known that he can be more than just a teen idol, and he makes that point with his latest video.
Part tragic love story, part pulpy thriller, the new video finds Bieber flexing his acting muscles opposite Kill Bill actor Michael Madsen, who plays an overprotective father who violently objects to Bieber dating his daughter. Of course, given that this is a tragedy, Bieber doesn't listen, and the couple then sets out to meet at a train station, but daddy dearest becomes privy to their late-night getaway and throws down until bruised and bloodied and drags his daughter away from Bieber, leaving a sad ending.
