Jessie Ware captures photo of 'You & I (forever)'

Jessie Ware's sophomore album "Tough Love" mostly dealt with heartbreak and unrequited love, but on some songs, the tone was much more hopeful. One such track, "You & I (Forever)," was perhaps the LP's most uplifting offering, and now, it's received a touching music video to boot. Ware issued an invitation for her family members, friends, and fans to shoot footage in a photo booth for the video, which was subsequently placed alongside performance shots of the singer.
The track opens with Ware admitting, "For me, 'You & I (Forever)' is celebrating the person you love being by your side. This is what it means to others." UK singer wrote this song after childhood sweetheart Sam Burrows proposed to her on the Greek island of Skopelos. She explained "(It) is me celebrating the memory of the fact that he's proposed to me and that we'll be together for ever." The song finds Ware singing about her frustration regarding Burrows' delay in proposing. "We waited such a long time, we've been going out forever," she said. "I wanted it to be this motorbike riding song, lots of yearning on an open highway."
The video’s director, Adam Powell, chooses to take us back to those 1889 vibes by putting treating the video to be grainy and black and white, which featuring Ware singing in a photo booth spliced together with shots of various couples, of all sorts. Straight, old, LGBT, young, mother and child, and a few singles who are simply interesting characters, getting their pictures taken. Jessie Ware got her feelings in 'Say You Love Me'

Jessie Ware has revealed the video for the Ed Sheeran-co-written single, "Say You Love Me," the second official single from Ware's upcoming sophomore album "Tough Love," which is out October 21 in the U.S. and October 6 in the UK via PMR/Island. The 29-year-old  Ware recorded the video with award winning directors Tell No One, the creative duo of artists Luke White and Remi Weekes, who won the Golden Lion at last year's Cannes Festival for their short film "Metamorphosis."
Ware has always been an emotional and expressive singer, but it has never been more obvious than on her new single, "Say You Love Me," which she wrote this song with Sheeran in about 45 minutes in New York and it is somewhat of a sonic departure from her past record. The "The A Team" songwriter also plays guitar on the track. Ware told MTV UK, "it was one of those serendipitous moments where somebody somewhere was on our side." Speaking to The Daily Star about her collaboration with Sheeran, Ware said: "The way Ed writes and his work ethic is incredible. I have to give him so much credit for being able to write something that's so right for me and elevates the way I sing - he really pushed me hard."
"Say You Love Me" was bigger and bolder than anything we'd yet heard from her and the touching "Tough Love" song gets an effective and lovely visual treatment. The rather simple video takes a similar approach with its directness - just singing and feelings. It shows the British soul singer sits atop a large rock on a set with a beachside backdrop behind her, and the camera simply films her in extended takes the entire time as she lets the words do the storytelling and sings the heart-wrenching yet beautiful lyrics of her new song "Say You Love Me."
The most exciting moment in the video is when she lets a bird land on her hand before it quickly flutters away. It's a quiet and lovely treatment for a standout song from Ware. There's nothing else, but you'll see that there really doesn't need to be. For such a passionate ballad, the video is just enough. Ware's expressiveness is overwhelming, and she reacts to each line as if she were in the middle of a conversation. It's a stunning performance!

Jessie Ware returned with soulful "Tough Love"

British techno-chanteuse Jessie Ware caught our attention two years ago as one of the freshest voices in alternative R&B with her elegant vocals and understated sound highlighted on her acclaimed debut album "Devotion." Since then, Ware hasn't done much on the music front, but now she is set to return with her as-yet-untitled sophomore album later this year and has shared the video for the new album's elegantly devastating first single, "Tough Love."
On Ware's earlier songs, she demonstrated a soulful style of downtempo pop. With "Tough Love," produced by BenZel, she experiments with even softer atmospheric textures and plays with the tonality in her voice. It's a warm new-age power ballad, one that's slow to build, but once it does around the three-minute mark, the song explodes into a gorgeous crescendo of buzzing synths against Ware's alluring vocals. "Tough Love" has ethereal, Kate-Bush-esque vocals, a crisp, Prince-ly beat, and enough thick, delicious bass to satisfy the fans who came to her via electronic artists like SBTRKT and Joker.
"Tough Love" is a convincing sign that Ware may actually outdo her first album with her next. Speaking about the track previously, Ware commented: "I had just finished a run of shows in the States and went to NY to work with BenZel for a couple weeks, mainly as a different focus to touring. I didn't have any expectations or pressures with what would come out of those two weeks, and think 'Tough Love' sums this up. It was me experimenting with my voice and having fun with it. It just felt right and kind of dictated the route of the next album, much like 'Devotion' did on my first album." Ware's lyrics were inspired by the trails of maintaining a long-term relationship with her fiancée while touring round the world. "It's not always easy being away from the person that I love so much, but I'm also doing something that I really, really love," she explained. "It's realistic that it's not always real easy."
Directed by BRTHR, the clip plays like a European experimental film from the early '70s. It matches that song's slow-burning aesthetic and seamlessly translates the song's gossamer vibes into visual form, which mainly means lots of shots of roses, lights and sees the London soul singer running through a sunny field and lying among purple flowers. The clip is full of ravishing golden-hour images of the back of Ware's head, film that changes from color to black-and-white, and close-up images of plant life and underwater faces. It's not an attention-grabbing video, or even a particularly notable one, but it's all arranged around the song, which still kills.

After watching the great British soul-soul singer Jessie Ware's ultra-serene vibe in her "Devotion," "Sweet Talk," and "If You're Never Going To Move" videos, it's a real treat to see the 28-year-old songstress' loosen the bun and let her hair down literally and figuratively in the early '90s-tinged new clip for "Imagine It Was Us," one of two bonus songs from the just-released American edition "Gold Edition" of Ware's Mercury Prize–nominated debut album, "Devotion," eight months after the release of her debut LP in her native UK.
Ware's backstory is not particularly dramatic, but there is an aspect to it that speaks to the masses, primarily in her maintained attitude that she is quite ordinary. Ware was not someone looking for pop stardom her whole life, but, rather, took at stab at being a soccer reporter before taking jobs as a backup singer at the encouragement of her mother. Now, Ware is already a big star in her native UK, but she's still trying to crack into the charts stateside. "It's either going to work or it's not. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy playing for people willing to vogue to my music," she said. "American audiences have been so fabulous and fun, the majority of them gay—men in front beating the rails, screaming, 'Guuuurl! Lawd have mercy!'"
"Imagine It Was Us," is an evocative, clubby jam. and it channels Michael Jackson in the most danceable track under her own name that she has released yet. The track definitely upholds the standard of quality Ware established with "Devotion," but it does differentiate itself from the prince-esque energy that made that album so great. The track pulses with a familiar and current pining for the dance floor in a manner she largely avoided on "Devotion" last year.
Ware gets to play disco queen in an '80s-style vogue club in Kate Moross-directed clip, which features a possible Madonna homage, and takes Ware out of the "If You're Never Going To Move" garden and into a darkened, sexy, disco ball-topped club where the costumes range from baroque to barely-there, and also probably the same club Madonna visited in "Deeper and Deeper." Dancing to a synth-lined, thumping track, Ware shakes her groove thing in a crop top and a long, lamorous ball gown as a hoard of scantily clad club revelers undulate next to her. Ware's not quite the diva Madonna is, but she does a beyond-satisfying job of transporting us back to the "Voguing" era. It's maybe the most visually slick thing we've yet seen from Ware, and she looks like she's having fun.

Jessie Ware debuts 'If You're Never Gonna Move'

British vocal powerhouse Jessie Ware was forced to rename her sultry track "110%," which has already stolen some summer love last year, to "If You're Never Gonna Move," following a sample usage of Big Pun's track "Dream Shatterer." She responded by renaming her entire project and now decides to re-release her original visuals for the title track from her upcoming America-only EP, out January 15th. Regardless of all the modifications, the music looses none of it's signature organically tender repose and remains fun in a trippy sort of way.
Ultimately, no matter what the genre, making music is about finding one's voice. "It took me ages, really, to work out what kind of voice I wanted to be my voice," says the 28-year-old new silky voiced soft-soul sensation. Fashioning a personal sound is a mysterious and difficult process. In Ware's case, the end result, her glistening and stirring 2012 dark horse debut, "Devotion," shows just how magical this kind of alchemy can be when done right, and appears to be on a serious upward trajectory, having been earned a Mercury Prize finalist already.
When a track is as warm and warmly received as "If You're Never Gonna Move," a superficial name-change was never likely to dull any of its gloss, and the single sees Ware enter the new year after notching up a 2012 that most artists could only dream of. The track is a slick, soulful and uptempo song that is a good showcase for Ware's sleek vocals set to a crisp beat that bounces along over gossamer thin backing melodies. The lyrics are yearning without being meek, it's an empowered song about love and Ware's not some damsel that needs to be rescued. She's setting it out plain for the subject she's singing about "If you're never going to move on my love, I'll have to come to you."
The British balladeer's sizzled out Sade-like dubstep has had a baby with electropop. Drifting and driving over a Little Dragon-like beat, it bops about like sprinkles of heaven against a blessed-out backing. The whole thing feels very Robyn-like in its simple pop beauty. And that can only be a good thing. Ware wrote this light-hearted upbeat song about dancing with Bristol house producer Julio Bashmore. The clip for the ethereal love song was directed by Kate Moross and filmed at Painshill Park, an 18th-century English landscape park located at Cobham, Surrey.
