Scissor Sisters Boozily Say "Baby Come Home"

True to form, the funk pop outfit Scissor Sisters have donned their nun outfits and sailor uniforms, dress as their favorite beer/liquor mascots and eventually become animated rabbits with another high-concept crazy trippy visual for their latest track, "Baby Come Home," the second single from the New York glam-pop band's just released fourth effort, "Magic Hour," which was released just this week.
The new album is dedicated to getting you on the dance floor and keeping you on the dance floor. Forever, but also contains touching ballads. It's a combination of rhythm and romance like you've never heard before. The album finds the Grammy nominated band collaborating with some of the hottest names in the music business, including Azealia Banks, Pharrell Williams and Calvin Harris. Speaking about the album, the lead singer Jake Shears told The Guardian: "[Magic Hour] is a sweet joyful melange of beat-driven future-pop. It style-hops all over the place unabashedly."
"Spawned by the scuzzy, gay nightlife scene of New York," the band took their name from a sexual position between two women also known as tribadism. "Baby Come Home" is a sugary, lollipop of a tune! The song follows their previous single, "Only the Horses," and finds the group donning some fun wardrobe choices: a knight, Viking, nun, and sailors, witches and jailbirds while the song ear-worms into your brain. The Scissor Sisters creatively capture the lyrics in their super fun, colorful, and booze-fueled new music video for "Baby Come Home."
Following the imaginative clips for "Shady Love" and "Only The Horses," This one's more of a graphic design wonder, a fluorescent, an explosion of animation, lyrics, costumes, humor, and shifting tapestry of characters, which has the band acting out illustrations from beer bottle labels with a mix of live action footage and animation. It starts off rather lighthearted, but by the final third, the band end up on a rather unexpected trip to hell. In the colorful animated piece we see Shears and the gang recreate various beer labels which is a great excuse to play dress up. Scissor Sisters Run Free In "Only The Horses"

Following up the memorable clip for "Shady Love," the electro-pop outfit Scissor Sisters come through with the sharp visual for their new single, "Only The Horses," from the New York band's upcoming fourth studio LP, "Magic Hour," which comes out on May 28. Formed in 2001, the New York glam rockers are an American band "spawned by the scuzzy, gay nightlife scene of New York," who took their name from a sexual position between two women also known as tribadism.
"Only The Horses" is gorgeous, hypnotic and features heroic horses, full of bright colors, and a lot of paint. It shouldn't have come as a surprise that the video for Scissor Sisters' utterly amazing Calvin Harris-produced single "Only The Horses" mostly features horses! There's some other stuff, too, but it's mainly about the horses. Given that the song's lush, galloping synths have a decidedly equine quality, though, it's hard to imagine a better set of visuals than the ones that the band came up with.

The new video is definitely a metaphor for something. The slow motion sequences are a tad grating - especially the shots of the horses galloping through the desert.
Directed by Lorenzo Fonda, the clip is suitably exuberant, which opens with horses galloping through the desert with ropes attached to them, but these are no ordinary horses! They're horses on a mission to liberate the four members of Scissor Sisters, who are being held captive inside a pyramid, covered in brightly colored paint. As the horses continue running, the ropes pull the pyramid apart, sending the paint flying through the air in a dazzling tableau of color.

Kelis Out Of Fashion In Her New "Acapella" Video

R&B artist Kelis premiered a music video for the apparent lead single "Acapella" from her fifth studio album "Flesh Tone," Kelis' first album in nearly four years, will arrive overseas on May 17 and is slated to hit U.S. shores in June. The song is a departure from her past singles in that it is a dance/electronica track rather than hip hop, produced by David Guetta, about her son, Knight. The track, wrote it with love and life in singer's mind, which has topped on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart!
Kelis and David Guetta is an odd pairing. With the rising profile of club producer David Guetta, Harlem-bred vocalist Kelis jumped on board, yet has managed to record a track that sounds both timely and reasonably novel. "Acapella" is a smooth, Donna Summer-style track with Kelis as an icy electro queen, a robotic embrace of house's metronomic bliss. Kelis' chameleonic adaptation to the times exemplifies her artistic flexibility, that she knows how to adjust to a changing pop world without losing her ability to stand out, to make her competition seem banal. "Acapella" displays Kelis' seemingly preternatural understanding of pop history, the dynamics at play in today's pop music, and ironically, a sense of personality in frozen performance.
The single has received a positive reception. Pitchfork Media gave the song a positive review, saying: "'Acapella' is a smooth, Donna Summer-style track with Kelis as an icy electro queen, a robotic embrace of house's metronomic bliss." About.com's "Dance Music" section reviewed the track favorably, calling the song "majestic" and named it its "Song of the Day". Entertainment Weekly called the song a "feathery dance-floor delight" and placed the song on its "The MustList" for 2010 whilst Billboard magazine added the song to its 2010's "Best Bits" listing.
Grammy-nominated singer Kelis is known for setting trends, but the fashionista won't be flaunting any avant-garde threads in her new music video. The singer shot the video for her David Guetta-produced single "Acapella" in the first week of March, with a British production team consisting of portrait and fashion photographer John "Rankin" Waddell and musical director Chris Cottam. Kelis wanted to go in a different direction after seeing an abundance of fashion in today's music videos. "I think everything is over-fashioned up that it just becomes uninteresting, and when every artist has access to every designer and vice versa, it's no longer exciting or fun."

Janet Jackson Reverts A New Video "Make Me"

We've been waiting for Janet Jackson to return to her true roots as an artist for awhile now. In a revealing interview that aired earlier this week, Janet said that the album that reveals the most of her is "The Velvet Rope," and that shows through it's production and lyrical content. Besides, it's one of my personal favorites! The official music video for her new song "Make Me" has just premiered and I have to say i'm lovin' it, and hope that "Make Me" signifies a new change in her music, back to the dance roots but still showing us the anger and emotion that we love from Ms.Jackson.
"Make Me" is a song from her second greatest hits compilation "Number Ones." It was written by Jackson, Rodney Jerkins, Thomas Lumpkins, and Michaela Shiloh. Janet gave the ultimate thank you to her beloved sibling by posting this new single, and initially presented as an audio stream to those who joined her website's official mailing list, on September 14, it was released via digital download a week after. "Make Me" is a fun, breezy tune with an elastic disco beat and a high-energy Euro-dance backdrop." A lot of uptempo stuff makes you feel good. There's so many different colors of Janet.
In her latest effort, Janet, 43, returns to form with a fast-paced dance routine cut with shots of the youngest of the Jackson siblings in a white room, wearing a space-age white suit with metallic shoulder-pads. The video features a vintage Janet vibe, and is shown she doing what she does best: Janet-worthy, sexy come-on, slick choreography, glamorous shots and a remarkably upbeat and countless hat-tips to brother Michael. The best-selling artist, who has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, struts her stuff in trademark modern routines, flanked by her stylish dancers. The video was directed by Robert Hales, and filmed in black and white. The way the three-minute movie for "Make Me" is shot is reminiscent of the Scream video the singer made with her late brother Michael in their 1995 collaboration. There are some pretty risqué moves in the performance, including one where she grabs the crotch of a male dancer and pushes him forward, and it was amazing she could dance so well wearing those boots!"
"Even though Janet was marking most of the dance moves today, the choreography is obviously very complicated, and she knew it all by heart," says the eyewitness. She is expected to perform the melody "Make Me," to kick off tonight's American Music Awards, which will share the stage with stars like Carrie Underwood and Lady Gaga at Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, and it could be the 'Nasty' singer appears poised for a major comeback. Janet is about to release a two-disc set of her second greatest hits album, "Number Ones," which includes the new single "Make Me," and comprising 33 of her global number one singles. The new album is expected in the second quarter of 2010 and will be produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins.
