Matt Cardle unveiled "It's Only Love" video

Matt Cardle unveiled a beautifully shot visual for "It's Only Love," the lead single from the 2010 X Factor winner's upcoming part self-funded sophomore studio album, "The Fire," follows his debut album "Letters," which peaked at No.2 in the UK. Both track and album are due for released on October 29.
By this point, a few weeks since it first debuted, we've found ourselves increasingly warming to Cardle's new single "It's Only Love." And maybe, considering his new album is presenting him as a regenerated liberated songwriter, freed from the ties of the X factor, that's the way it should be. The track is his strongest to date, an 80s-inspired power ballad with lyrics highlighting the dangers and illusions of love. Oddly enough, something about Cardle's voice and dance music work so well together.
In an interview with The Sun about new album, the 29-year-old explained: "I wanted it to be upbeat because I think there was a general sense that I was a bit boring. I was talking to someone about it and they were saying how happy this album is compared to the last one. When I made the last one I was in a relationship, I was falling in love, I was happy, but the album was the complete opposite. With this one, through heartbreak and absolute devastation, I’ve come out with something that is way more positive."
The accompanying music video sees various couples splitting up, with the heart-broken victim in the situation joining a parade of heartbroken souls leaded by Cardle in strolling down a road through the Californian desert, and he offers them some grounded advice - love can't save you, only you can save yourself! The clip isn't quite what we had in mind for the song, but it does a good job of presenting a clean slate, a fresh start, for Cardle. Plus, the bit where all the people that have been diligently following him down the road start lip-synching along to his vocal is pretty neat.

Matt Cardle has unveiled the video to promote the latest tune "Starlight," the second cut to be lifted from from the 2010 X-Factor winner's debut record "Letters," which is described as a collection of guitar riffed and string sectioned smashes, "reminiscent of Snow Patrol's biggest hits." Following his singles "When We Collide," and first single proper "Run For Your Life," the new track "Starlight" will hits shelves on December 5th.
Gary Barlow may have penned "Run For Your Life," but Cardle gives the take that mastermind a run for his money with this stunning album opener. "Starlight" is far and away the best track on the set, and an euphoric pop tune, which he described to The Sun as "a depressing happy song about the insignificance of everything." Discussing "Starlight" as the lead song on the album, Cardle said: "It's a banging tune. "We wanted to open up with something that was edgy, something that was strong. Something that wasn't X Factor."
The 28-year-old's first single "Run For Your Life" was a bit of a disappointment but I think "Starlight" will end up doing much better for him. Cardle co-penned the pop-rock track with guitarist Seton Daunt, who is the lead guitarist for the British rock band Fiction Plane, along with Spice Girls collaborator Richard "Biff" Stannard, and Ash Howes, whose other credits include tracks recorded by Westlife and Kylie Minogue. Cardle may not have the most welcoming personality but there is no doubt the man can sing.
The video for "Starlight" showing us loads of Cardle fans eager to get a glimpse of him sans hat marching down streets with what can only be described as furious passion. It's as if Greggs are giving away free cake. Now, with X Factor fever in full swing once again, Cardle releases his debut album, "Letters." But can the guitar-weilding reality show winner keep up with his younger rivals, who have already scored No.1 singles in 2011? "Starlight" is pounding slice of epic, guitar-led pop music which is a dead cert for Cardle's next single and the album's most uplifting moment.

Matt Cardle Starts Fresh In "Run For Your Life"

The X Factor is back, last year's winner Matt Cardle has premiered his new single "Run For Your Life" and given us the video at the same time. The X Factor winner secured overnight success last December after his debut song rocketed to No.1 follow his triumph on the reality show. The new track had its first radio play yesterday, is the second single and the first single from Cardle's debut 13-track LP, "Letters," which is set to be released on October 17.
There is no-frills, no silly backing dancers and just his amaze-balls voice, the emotional and powerful ballad is the only track Cardle did not co-write for his debut album. It was penned by new X Factor judge Gary Barlow, so it's no surprise to discover it's a crooning ballard with uplifting lyrics about starting afresh and going on a journey to find a new love interest. Cardle told The Sun: "I'd been trying to write a song like that for a long, long time, probably five or six years. As soon as I heard it I just felt the song was mine. Lyrically it's about not being good enough for the person you're with. I know exactly what that's like. I was nearly in tears recording the vocals."
The 28-year-old sings his heart out, telling the girl of his dreams to flee from her painful past and start fresh with him in the new promo, which features he staring all doe-eyed into the camera and crooning meaningfully about being deserving of more in love and stuff in front of footage of a pretty redhead running away on a screen behind him. He convinces his object of affection to wipe away the tears and move on with him.
In the video, Cardle is dressed in a very ordinary pair of jeans and shirt that look as though they may be left over from his painter and decorator days. As he powers out the song, telling a redhead to 'run for her life' from a doomed relationship, she is then seen darting through various backdrops. The boho beauty is projected on an enormous screen pacing through a forest and later frolicking on a beach in a monokini. But lonely Cardle cannot reach her as he is singing in real time and she is only a vision. However, their fairytale ending comes true at the end and she steps out of the screen and embraces him.
