"All that glitters isn't always gold." Christina Perri uploaded the brand new visual for "Burning Gold," the second official single from her latest sophomore album "Head or Heart," and features a throwback clip that harkens back to '60s girl groups, bright lights, old school Hollywood glam and lots of gold, of course. Fearing the life she wants might be slipping out of her grasp, Perri declares that she's had enough and she wants a change. With the flip of a jukebox song and the grasp of a microphone, the singer steps forward to take charge of her life.
The 27-year-old Philadelphia singer is best-known for her emotional ballads "Jar Of Hearts" and "A Thousand Years," but Perri isn't afraid to raise the tempo occasionally as she proves on "Burning Gold," which was co-written by Perri with Kid Harpoon and was produced by John Hill and Butch Walker. The cover art for "Burning Gold" features Perri with a Midas touch, turning her right hand, arm and shoulder into gold. That gold - giving your life meaning - is what "Burning Gold" is all about. Change starts with the daily grind: "I wish the wind would carry a change. It only ends once you've burnt all the useless packaging of your life down to gold."
Perri is not afraid to stand up for herself in her "Burning Gold" video which gives off a "Dreamgirls" vibe. As a waitress at a very dirty truck stop diner, her life is pretty miserable, but she's got to work there to make ends meet. She gazes through the window from time to time watching the better lives of other, and realizing hers is sort of doomed. However, when a famous singers and his back-up dancer enter the diner one day, Perri out of the sudden gets a shot of courage, selects a song on the jukebox, grabs the microphone and starts belting the song and exposing her amazing talent.
This famous male singer spots Perri, and hires her as her new back-up singer. After going on tour, Perri falls in love with his 'savior' aka the famous singer who hired her. They supposedly live a happy life until Perri finds him cheating on her. A heart-broken and furious singer gets the keys of his Porsche, drives away with no fixed destination, leaves and gets off the car below a cement bridge and sets it on fire - leaving all her 'new life' and all the glitz behind. Christina Perri sings about heartache in 'Human'

After an arduous wait for new material, Christina Perri makes vulnerable return with a dramatic new visual for her brutally honest alt-pop ballad "Human," the first taste and lead single from her upcoming sophomore album, "Head or Heart." It's a properly dramatic way to come out swinging as Perri ramps up for the release of her new album, due out March 11. Named as iTunes' "Breakthrough Pop Artist of 2011," the 27-year-old singer-songwriter earned critical applause and an increasingly fervent fan following with her extraordinary debut and her raw-and-heart-wrenching break-up anthem "Jar of Hearts."
Perri wrote with Boys Like Girls frontman and top-notch popsmith Martin Johnson, "Human" is a soft, yet powerful ballad about the societal pressures placed upon women to be, well, perfect. Still prominantly featuring Perri's raw vocals and her broken lyrics, the song has an elevated production from her previous release, with swelling strings and bursting percussion over Perri's beautiful piano stylings. This emotionally-charged ballad also continues the theme of "lovestrong." relating to those broken and alone and commiserating with them. However, the defiance in the lyrics and Perri's own voice are hopeful and strong. For those who can relate to heartbreak, which is all of us really, this song will soon be on repeat.
Are humans just a series of parts or are we something deeper? That's the question at the heart of Perri's stunning video for "Human," which was directed by Elliott Sellers. The just-over-four-minute clip begins with Perri alone in a room and standing on a white platform against all-white background, wearing a black bra-like top, and black hotpants. Perri isn't really herself, or only Human, as the song's sonics build, so does her true self begin to emerge and dramatically turning into human while sings about her heartache. We can never have enough new music during the holidays and this song is the perfect addition!
Ever since Perri was a little kid, she's been writing Christmas songs. But it wasn't until now that she was brave enough to let anyone else hear them. The 26-year-old singer told CBS Local that she's "madly in love" with holiday music, so it was a no-brainer for her to record her own holiday EP. "It's such a big part of my upbringing and my singing in general," she said. "The very first song I sang when I was three was a Christmas song." What else would you expect from the woman who won our hearts with a jar of them?
"Something About December," is the true standout with its warm arrangement and vocal embrace. It'll make you feel all fuzzy inside, and it's a new Christmas classic in its own right as timeless as the tracks she covers on the EP. Perri explains that the song "is about finding Christmas wherever you are in the world, because it lives in your heart." Christina Perri Gets Emotionally In "Distance"

Christina Perri has released the music video for "Distance," the third single of her debut studio album, "Lovestrong." As stated by Perri on a video on her Facebook, it featuring her good friend, Jason Mraz. The Elliott Sellers-directed clip sees Perri and Mraz singing the lyrics of the wistful ballad while wandering the same place, but without running into each other. It gives us an antique look inside Perri's heart. She and Mraz croon the melodies in the sweetest ways, making us happy and nostalgic both at the same time!
"'Distance' is a song about loving someone at the wrong time in your life," the 25-year-old tells Rolling Stone. "Maybe it's too soon, maybe it's too late, but nevertheless it's about being around that one whom your heart longs for without being about to show your true feelings, without being able to tell them. It's very hard to keep love a secret, and I wrote this song about the one time I had to." The bittersweet message and haunting duet vocals from both artists carry the clip with plenty of emotional vulnerability and engagement.
"Distance" is a quite beautiful on the ears, and it sounds like a much more restrained performance from the 'Jar Of Hearts' singer and the emotionally engaging combination of her and Mraz really does connect with some resonance. They'd create the type of song poignant enough to leave you blubbering and snot-crying into an empty pint of ice cream, because that's just what happens when you add one amazing singer-songwriter to another amazing singer-songwriter and then throw in a video with hazy sunlight and a white dress.
In the gorgeous clip, Perri and Mraz play lovers who are torn apart. There are a ton of sad faces and stolen glances, which work just as well. Symbolically, the pair are in the same house, yet they can't quite find each other. As Perri roams the property, she eventually stumbles upon a huge wall of photos and mementos that we're assuming remind her lover, as she dramatically rips the photos off the wall only to reveal a real live Mraz, calmly strumming his guitar and waiting patiently for Perri to find him. The clip leaves us in suspense.

Christina Perri has premiered the full-length exclusive clip from The Hollywood Reporter for "Distance," Wednesday night before its official debut during ABC's show "Revenge" recap episode, "From the Beginning," and then it goes live at the ABC Music Lounge online. The 25-year-old singer/songwriter, is originally from Philadelphia, got her big break when her song "Jar of Hearts," after it was featured on Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance." The track was an unexpected success across the United States.
You may have seen and heard Perri's "Distance," the third single off her debut album, "Lovestrong," in commercials for "Revenge." Featuring her good friend Jason Mraz, it is a wonderfully soft and elegant song, full of trailing notes over a quiet and tranquil guitar strummed ever so lightly. Perri, herself, said she kept the record a secret, as she was so excited to be working with Mraz, who can be heard harmonizing with the female vocalist over the pre-chorus and chorus.
On her official website's blog, Perri revealed more about the message behind the album title. She stated that since the release of "Jar of Hearts" she has been overwhelmed with the emotion from fans who have related to the song. Perri revealed that fans helped her understand the ups and downs of love, which led her to create "Lovestrong." Selecting songs from her "arsenal," Perri picked her favorite songs that she felt fans needed to hear, the songs she needed to give away and the songs she needed to get through. Listening to every intention, story, battle wound, melody and word, Perri revealed that she discovered the main theme of the album: love and strength.
"Distance," is a fantastic arrangement and well composed. The lyrics expose the natural sensitivity of every relationship, which I'm certain that those who have actually been in love have felt and understood. Perri always seems like she is in a surreal world. The world is realizing how much amazing talent she has and she provides us with the most amazing red carpet dresses and amazing performances! The new video for "Distance," features Nick Wechsler as the unlucky in love Jack Porter and plenty of memorable scenes from the series. And at the end, you'll see if Jack finally gets the girl. Christina Perri has released the video for her contribution to "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1" movie soundtrack tune, "A Thousand Years," hit on Web Wednesday. Would you wait a thousand years for the love of your life? Well, Perri plans on waiting basically forever in her new video "A Thousand Years." To be in love with someone for a one thousand years is more than most of us can fathom, but a lovestruck Perri isn't afraid to run a marathon for love.
The 25-yesr-old talked a little about the guitar-driven song and its meaning. She explains, "For me, it just has to do most with the love story between Edward and Bella." The romance is not without its difficulties, and Perri says, "I feel like it's 'Romeo and Juliet,' and they just happen to be vampires and there's werewolves." Definitely, and that is what makes it so romantic. The "Jar of Hearts" singer tries to explain what kind of song fans can expect, "pretty, classical and simple." None of the techno stuff. Just Perri's soulful voice creating an ghostly melody.
The song is the perfect complement for one of the most romantic stories of all time. Like Perri says, "I wrote [the song] for Edward and Bella in their perspective. It's the purest love song I think I could have possibly written. It's about the simplest kind of love and a timeless love." Timeless, as in immortal vampires spending the rest of eternity together. My favorite singer is a self-proclaimed 'Twilight' fan and was over the moon when she was asked to put something together for the film. She reveals, "The fact that my dream came true... still blows my mind, and I don't think I've fully processed it yet."

Although this particular song is not the actual wedding song, it is perfect for the montage of romantic clips seen throughout the video.

Christina Perri Drops Epic Video For "Arms"

Christina Perri has just released a gravity defying epic video for her single, "Arms," the lead single from Philadelphia-born singer-songwriter's upcoming debut album, "Lovestrong" will be released on May 10. Last July, a struggling Perri was asked to perform a song she had written, a defiant break-up anthem called "Jar of Hearts," on the Fox show "So You Think You Can Dance." Her performance catapulted the 24-year-old Philadelphia native into the public eye, her song went on to sell a million downloads and she landed a deal with Atlantic Records.
And here she is again, follow-up her successful of the heartbreaking debut single "Jar of Hearts," "Arms," is another beautiful ballad and a great uptempo pop/rock song and built around a piano melody. Perri explained "'Arms' is about the fight between your heart and your mind. Your heart wants to be loved but your head is always telling you reasons not to be with him or her, or how you are not worth the love. It's about the struggle and finally giving in when you're wrapped in their arms. Then you get it. Then you feel loved and love wins." The song speaks to me of love and appreciation, and Perri's distinctive voice this time wrapped around a more upbeat point of view.
Conceptually, the Budding star's dream-sequence video is a winner - Perri's narrator wanders restlessly across air, sea, and land, and only finds peace beside her love. Not bad for a song about faith in love ultimately overcoming an urge to flee born of insecurity and fear! But while Perri's arms communicate plenty about what's changed, framing the shots identically would have been particularly potent. The execution is similarly spotty throughout. When Perri floats into the air, wrapped in her sheet, the sequence seems neither real nor dream-unreal enough. But once she plunges underwater and is rescued by her band, the video regains momentum.
The rain doesn't hurt, but it doesn't seem particularly necessary either. Perri and band can communicate the song's emotions powerfully without high-concept trappings, so even when the visuals are effective, they're ancillary. And when they're not effective, they're really distracting. The video was shot over a two-day period that Perri described as "a two-day shoot that kicked my ass so hard." Perri had co-written the video treatment herself. Speaking of the concept of the video, Perri stated that she took a physical pummeling as she played a super-hero during the shoot, where she jokingly added "I don't know why I think I'm an action hero."

Christina Perri Debuts Mournful "Jar of Hearts"

Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" is renowned for featuring some of the coolest music on reality TV, helping popularize artists like OneRepublic, Adele, Sam Sparro, Roisin Murphy, Goldfrapp, and even Lady Gaga. And the latest "SYTYCD" success story is songstress Christina Perri, whose breakup ballad "Jar Of Hearts" catapulted into the Billboard charts after it was stunningly featured on the show. "For like 17 days, I keep pinching myself. I don't want to sleep because I'm afraid I'm going to wake up or something. But it is real, and 'So You Think You Can Dance' has just changed my whole life," Perri said.
At just 24, Perri has already lived a handful of lives. She's toured the world as an assistant to a rock band, spent a year at a prestigious university, became a wife and then an ex-wife, produced popular music videos, made olive oil in Italy and even served as a fashionista barrista in Beverly Hills. The song is a ballad about a person who hurt Perri. In the chorus, Perri repeats: "Who do you think you are? Running'round, leaving scars, collecting your jar of hearts." Perri feels that "Jar of Hearts" has connected because," on a basic level, everyone has had this experience with a person who broke their heart. I'm just telling my story in a very real and direct way. This kind of slapped the crap out of everyone's hearts," she says with a laugh. She also stated in her blog: "I am so touched + speechless over your overwhelming response to jar of hearts. I wrote the song after I went home to Philadelphia for the holiday last December. I sat in my childhood bedroom and hid from the boy (with the jar of hearts) who wanted to see me. My heart wanted to see him, my head knew better."
Following Perri's stripped-down piano performance, "Jar of Hearts" continued its meteoric rise, and suddenly a hot property, Perri signed a record deal with Atlantic Records for her debut album, with an eye toward a late fall release. The songs Perri is recording for her debut album are all about love. She excels at setting dark, tumultuous emotions to stunning, pretty melodies. Perri says, "writing about love and heartbreak is just who I am. I've tried so hard to write about other things, but ultimately this is what comes out of me.
