Shakira plays truth or "Dare" on the dance floor

Shakira is on a roll lately and there's no stopping her. First, she released her smash hit "Empire," performing on 'The Voice,' and now, she's back on the music scene with a brand new video for her latest club-thumper "Dare (La La La)." The uptempo dance track, that contains Brazilian beats and takes influence from electronica, was written for the 2014 Brazil FIFA World Cup and will be the official anthem for it. Channeling Mad Max, a warrior princess and a certain hedonistic vibe, Shakira can make something as simple as standing against a colored wall look daring with her new video for the catchy tune.
"Dare (La La La)" maybe not Shakira's finest banger to date, but the video for Ibiza's Next Top Wordless Chorus does feature the Colombian hitmaker running through fields and liberating dance floors like a club-hopping Khaleesi. Also making up for the track's clunky spoken-word verses is the return of what appears to be her "She Wolf" choreography. "The Hips Don't Lie" singer shakes her thing in front of a colored wall, and grinds up on it - yep, her hips still don't lie. It's been almost five years since she danced around in an anatomically suggestive glittery cavern, but we couldn't remember to forget those moves - the lurching shoulders, the claw hands - even if we tried.
It's filled with fun techno dance beats, Shakira's vocals are crazy good and she's shaking her booty in the entire music video. You know that old saying, "Dance like nobody's watching"? Well, in the new "Dare (La La La)" video, Shakira's dancing like EVERYBODY's watching, which makes sense because she's, like, Shakira, as she throws her hands in the air like she just don't care. Much like in "She Wolf," the Anthony Mandler-directed clip shows Shakira dancing, ducking and weaving her way around a monument, a mini-hedge maze, and an assortment of colorfully tiled walls.
The Pied Piper that she is, Shakira's soon joined by throngs of eager dancers as she questions: "Is it true that you love me/ I dare you to kiss me/ With everyone watching/ It's truth or dare on the dancefloor." Oh, dare! Pick dare. No, truth! No, wait... Dare! After this hot dance video, we bet someone will! Needless to say, we're scheduling an appointment to get it tramp-stamped after work. Till then, we'll just be sitting here with the clip on repeat, mesmerized by the almighty power of Shakira and we don't care who's watching.

Shakira is a runaway bride on fire in "Empire"

Shakira is a girl on fire as a runaway bride in her latest glamorous video for her wailing single "Empire," the second single off her new self-titled tenth studio album, her first studio album in four years, out Tuesday. Love, motherhood, rock roots, a dab of country here, a drop of reggae there, and of course, Latin dance rhythms. Her new album may at first blush sound as if it could be a disparate affair, but instead, it's a cohesive, organic set, with roots that lie mostly in melodic pop-rock and unexpected touches from multiple influences. There's not much Latin-ness to be found here, but it doesn't matter. The album works on the strength of the songs.
Steve Mac-produced "Empire," is a mid-tempo rock-influenced song, described as being Shakira's biggest rock transition in a long time since her earlier music. Critics had immediately noticed the '90s piano rock influences in "Empire," which is a beauty of a rock ballad that begins pared-down with vocals over solo piano in acoustic mode with a sparse intro before Shakira unleashes her inner head-banger and howls her way through the chorus. Lyrically, the track talks about a bursting passion that the singer simply cannot express in words.
On the track, which has the 37-year-old Latin songstress channeling Kate Bush, she sings about the power of one particular man's love, but he is not the man she is set to marry, "Like the empires of the world unite/ We are alive/ And the stars make love to the universe/ You're my wildfire every single night." Pretty intense. Describing the kooky rock song as surprising would be an understatement. Colombia's finest export has dabbled in guitar-pop over the years, but "Empire" is her rowdiest rock adventure by far.
In the clip, Shakira plays a runaway bride, who enters what looks like a devastated church and is about to say 'I do' to an unknown man, only to realize she's not really ready. So, she turns around and bolts out the door and leaving her guests and groom behind. The video then takes us on a visual journey as Shakira breaks free from her past relationship, literally setting it on fire. After fleeing and dancing through a grassy field in a flowing wedding dress, the singer is seen in front of the church singing the powerful rock-pop "Empire" chorus as the veil and back of her traditional white wedding dress go up in flames.

Shakira, Rihanna 'Can't remember to forget you'

The Colombian stunner Shakira is back with a brand new steamy music video for the provocative "Can't Remember To Forget You," and this time the Bajan beauty Rihanna has also come along for the ride. In spite of the song's title, the Caribbean ladies get up close and personal, and make for a sizzling combination, and, naturally, it is hot and fierce! The post-breakup duet is the first single from off of the "Voice" coach's upcoming self-titled inaugural album with Sony label RCA, her first since 2010, hits shelves March 25.
Co-written by the singers with Swedish singer-songwriter Erik Hassle, "Can't Remember To Forget You,"  is an uptempo New Wave track with Ska elements, finds the two stars lamenting on their inability to forget lovers who are bad for them. "Working with Rihanna was utopia. She's the sexiest woman on the planet," the 36-year-old Colombian singer said in Glamour magazine. "And at the end of the day, we're both just basically Caribbean girls. The chemistry was so good and so real. She taught me dance moves. She was a sweet teacher."
Shakira's relationship with Spanish soccer player Gerard Pique, was definitely not an inspiration for the track. She told Ryan Seacrest: "I'm going through a completely different experience right in relation to the song. The song is about that guy that just gets under your skin and you can't leave alone. I think every woman has been through that. This song is not exactly a reflection of my personal life right now." She also noted working with Rihanna, "You know, we're both from the Caribbean so I always thought we had that common ground, but this song is pretty Reggae. I honestly thought it would never happen... She heard the record and she loved it and she said she was onboard and I was the happiest girl alive."
Shot in a Los Angeles mansion, the Joseph Kahn-directed clip begins with Shakira romping around on a bed as she sings about the mistakes she's made in love before the 25-year-old Rihanna even makes her appearance. The duo then cozy up, smoke cigars, cuddling, make smoldering facial expressions and writhe around together on a bed in revealing outfits as they sing of a post-breakup longing and their mutual addiction to a man who is no good for them, they indulge in a dance off, with a wall separating them, showing off their coordinating choreography which gets progressively raunchier. Things heat up as they return to the cabana by the pool and caress each other with Rihanna placing her hand on Shakira's pert posterior.

Pitbull Teams Up Shakira To "Get It Started"

Pitbull has decided to tap another internationally renowned pop star, Shakira, for a sexy new video "Get it Started," the first cut comes off of the entertainer's next seventh full-length, "Global Warming," which is due in the United States on September 28. The 31-year-old rapper, who began his artistic career as a teenager on the Miami rap scene, is one of the hottest commodities in music this summer.
The dance-pop song that blends a dance beat and up-tempo verses with a slowed-down, piano-driven pop chorus with a pummeling synth instrumental to back the Latin-rap heavyweight's high-energy verses. "Get It Started" continues Pitbull's journey through the club, and Shakira shows up to provide the heart-wrung hook their third time collaboration, emoting as the beat breaks off into a subtle stomp before quickly returning in full force seconds later.
The video was directed by David Russo, and it opened with some action-packed "The Bourne Legacy"-esque shots of Pitbull and a sexy brunette, the espionage-themed video centers on the Florida rapper who channels his inner spy and gets involved in a dangerous car chase when trying to save a lovely brunette lady from someone who looks like a mob boss. The Latin diva Shakira, meanwhile, is never seen sharing a scene with him. Looking gorgeous in a golden gown, the Colombian songstress is featured singing alone on a balcony while the sun shines through her blond hair.
The video plays much like a movie, is closed with scenes featuring Pitbull's concert which is packed with a lot of hot girls. Fireworks are seen bursting in the night sky as the concertgoers dance to the Latin rapper's song. The only storyline we can honestly gather from the video is that Pitbull is trying to make sure his lady friend isn't cheating on him, and the slicked-back-hair badasses have been charged with acting as enforcer. Of course, being Mr. Worldwide, this sly woman can't escape Pitbull’s reach.

Shakira Sizzles In Steamy "Addicted To You"

Shakira is following up her Billboard Latin Music Awards success with a new music video for "Addicted to You," the fifth and final single from Colombian pop star's third Spanish bilingual album. "Sale el Sol." As always, it's far from unsexy. The new clip will simply reconnect fans with the sensuality and radiance Shakira so effortlessly emits.
The bilingual "Addicted To You" is a colorful, Latin-infused pop record, laced with lively, hip-shaking rhythm worthy and influenced heavily with merengue and dance music that perfectly showcases Shakira's one-of-a-kind vocals. The song was noted for trying to incorporate bilingual lyrics, a very 70's chorus and Copacabana sounds. The song hurries back to the hip-swaying dance beat, and the cheap keyboard that drives the tune reminds us of music played at weddings and quinceañeras.
Shakira has created a new merengue-rock hybrid that lays down bare horn riffs over a driving beat in a groove that is irresistible, and her striking vocals never fail to romance us. The verses are in Spanish but the chorus is in English and speaks to a feeling we can all relate to - being addicted to your significant other: "Baby, I'm addicted to you," she sings half the song in Spanish, which just adds to the exotic flavor. Another upbeat dance tune, the song has many percussive elements happening, from different shakers to hand drums. They keep the song alive, and it never grows dull.
Treating fans to a brand new production, shot in one day in L.A., the 35-year-old singer emits her signature sexpot style with barely-there jaw-dropping outfits and cooing the Spanglish lyrics in the Anthony Mandler-directed uber-sexy video. The steamy footage shows the "Hips Don't Lie" songstress writhing around on a chair, getting sudsy in the tub, and pretty much just looking hot as she dances around in a pair of black hotpants.

"Rabiosa" (English: "Rabid") is the third single from her third bilingual and seventh studio album, "Sale el Sol." The catchy tune has a distinctive Latin flavor that's sprinkled with spices of Dominican merengue music. The fast-paced track features a sizzling horn section and a steady dance beat throughout. It was described as having a "partying atmosphere" by those who took part in the shootings. The video starts off with the Colombian songbird entering a sexy dance party at a nightclub. Throughout the vigorous video, the camera leads Shakira through the festivities, as she sports a green mini-dress and short bobbed brown hairdo. The singer engages in a salsa dance with a male party-goer, crowd surfs above the masses, and gets playful in bathtub as she sings the lusty lyrics.
It's not long before we're reintroduced to blonde Shakira shaking her famous hips around a pole in black lingerie, continuing the fantasies that she started in her "She Wolf" video. Shakira has made possibly her raciest music video yet, stripping down to a teeny weeny black bikini and showing off her pole dancing skills. Only Shakira can transform a pole dance from trashy to awe-inspiring, as she moves her body in ways that most people can only dream of. She finishes big with a sideways split as the video fades out. As always, the Latin songstress brings the heat both musically and visually on this meringue-inspired track.

Shakira Goes From Waka Waka To "Loca" Video

Latin pop star Shakira has finally premiered the video for her latest single, "Loca," the catchy song is the lead single from her upcoming bilingual studio album "Sale El Sol/The Sun Comes Out," which is due October 19 in US. Two versions of the song were released, one in Spanish, that features vocals from El Cata, and one in English that features vocals from British grime rapper Dizzee Rascal.
Shakira is 'Loca' for a guy! Over horn-heavy merengue beats and techno dance percussion, the hip-knocking Colombian delivers her interpretation of El Cata's "Loca Con Su Tiguere," fervently singing about being erratic for a guy, more so than his other leading lady: "She's tied to your love / But your love's only mine, boy." While Shakira lures in her man with Loca's hypnotic chorus, Dizzee delivers a notable rap interlude and skittering rhymes, affirming that he is, in fact, enraptured by a "crazy girl."
Shakira really knows how to make a sexy music video! The Jaume de Laiguana-directed video's urban locale is a little grittier than what you've seen from the Colombian superstar, with her skating, motorcycling and dancing through traffic and gawking fans in Spain's famed city before making a very public costume change. Why is Shakira going wild in the streets of Barcelona? Originally she planned to shoot another glittery production for "Loca," her new duet with Dizzeel, but then did something a little crazy and let Dizzee direct. The version used in the video is the JS Mix and she shot the video in a bikini top and gold hip-huggers that exposed her well-toned backside.
The "fun-filled" music video is different from Shakira's previous clips most of which are usually big-budgeted affairs. There's a calculated madness to the "Loca" video, a vibrant, unchained energy, the kind very few artists can conjure up, no matter how big the budget. And, come to think of it, that's a pretty accurate way of summing up Shakira's entire career. For nearly two decades now, either due to her multinational leanings or because she is sort of insane, Shakira has managed to carve out her own, rather indefinable niche in the pop music.

Shakira' Song 'Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)'

Anticipation continues to build for the 2012 FIFA World Cup, the premiere international soccer tournament that occurs only every four years. It's set to kick off this Friday, June 11 in and around Johannesburg, South Africa. Though there is no doubt the soccer will be excellent, it'll also be thrilling to hear the music coming out of the month-long tournament. Several artists have created official World Cup anthem songs, including R. Kelly and K'Naan, but Shakira's latest tune "Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)" is perhaps the best of them all. She just premiered the video for "This time for Africa", better known locally as "Waka Waka," and it's a delightfully colorful affair. Joined by South Africa fusion band Freshlyground and a bevy of dancers, Shakira rolls through the funky, inspirational tune with her usual blend of jittery energy and engaging charm. It also doesn't hurt that she's an excellent dancer, as are the performers who flank her throughout the clip.
It was her first visit to the country and is also an ambassador for the One Goal Education Initiative and wants to visit some schools, the Colombian Pop sensation Shakira will take center stage for the Official World Cup Kick-Off Celebration Concert (via Billboard) taking place at Orlando Stadium on Thursday, the eve of the opening match of the tournament. "I am looking forward to seeing all the South African artists who will be performing at the Kick-off concert. I especially want to see their dance moves. I am looking forward to stealing some dance moves as well," she said. She will perform alongside homegrown sensation Freshlyground, who she has collaborated with for "Waka Waka," which is Written jointly by Shakira and John Hill, and an adaptation of a traditional soldiers' song named "Zangalewa."
The 33-year-old singer works it out in this new music video, all the excitement on the field is mashed up with frisky dance and performance and shows off the joy on the field when the goal is scored and disappointment when it's failed. The music video also features cameos from such football players as Lionel Messi, Dani Alves, Rafael Marquez, Gerard Pique and Carlos Kameni among others. "The FIFA World Cup is a miracle of global excitement, connecting every country, race, religion and condition around a single passion. It represents an event that has the power to unite and integrate, and that's what this song is about," Shakira said in a statement. Her excellent belly dancing moves have made her more popular in the music world.

Shakira And Rafael Nadal Heat Up "Gypsy" Video

Colombian diva Shakira has just premiered the highly anticipated music video featuring tennis superstar Rafael Nadal on Friday for her another blockbuster hit "Gypsy" (Spanish version, "Gitana"), the fourth and favorite single, hit radio stations on February 22, taken from her latest album "She Wolf" which has been in stores since October 2009.
The video, like the song paired with it, has a much more organic vibe and sound than other tracks from "She Wolf," was directed by frequent Shakira collaborator Jaume de Laiguana in Spain's Barcelona. The video tells a love story that plays out on a desert backdrop. It's an ideal setting for the romance between the smiling Shakira and her often-shirtless tennis pro to unfold. The intricate plot involves Shakira roaming the desert in skimpy garb, while the lyrics of "Gypsy" have Shakira singing about looking to bring her love with her on the road, and shows the sexy Colombian showing off her fabulous abs in a black gauzy slip of a thing, playing a harmonica, dancing, embracing and getting intimate with Nadal as the lead male protagonist, and then finally the two share a passionate kiss in the end.
On her decision to pick up Nadal as her leading man in the video, Shakira said, "I thought that maybe I needed someone (in the video) I could in some way identify with." She continued, "And Rafael Nadal is a person who has been totally committed to his career since he was very young, since he was 17, I believe. (The song represents my) way of living and seeing life. I've been on the road since I was very young, so that's where the gypsy metaphor comes from." Nadal added, "It has been a great experience and I had a lot of fun doing it. I had some time in between tournaments and preparation and could not miss this opportunity. Shakira, as always, was spectacular. Working with a woman as charming as her, well, it makes it a lot easier to tell the truth. It was great, very easy, she's really sweet and that always makes the hours go by faster."

Shakira Releases Her "Did It Again" Music Video

The Colombian pop star Shakira has premiered a music video for her brand new European single "Did It Again" on the German show "Neu" from VIVA on Friday. "Did It Again" is the second single off the third english studio album of "She Wolf" which is due for November 23 in the US with Epic Records. However, the single will not be released in the US market, and it will be released in Spanish mainly to Latin America and Spain, and be renamed "Lo Hecho Está Hecho", as was done with "She Wolf" with Spanish version "Loba". US fans will be treated with a song called "Give It Up to Me," which features Timbaland and Lil Wayne.
The Sophie Muller directed video shows the stunning Shakira singing and dancing in a similarly sensual way as she was in the previous video, and the sexy choreography is simply wonderful. Colombian beauty mixes martial arts, wearing only a black lingerie, Shakira goes wild in a music video promoting her new single "Did It Again". The video opens with Shakira in a steam room, surrounded by many women who bear a striking resemblance to her. It then cuts to a dimly-lit bedroom where the singer, dressed in a black nightie, and a male dancer put on what has been deemed the hottest dance routine ever to take place on a bed. They are lovers, the images tell the viewer, and they're having a very violent fight but, at the same time, they're also very passionate about each other. It leaves the viewer with only one thing on their mind. Her hypnotic dance moves are enough to make a man leave everything he loves behind for a shot to be with her.
"Did It Again" follows her massive hit "She Wolf," which remained in the UK top five for five weeks. Not only that, her current album also entered the album chart at #4 making it Shakira's fastest selling album to date in the UK. Shakira boasts a string of chart-topping hits in both English and Spanish and sales of over 50 million records. The Latin pop has already won two Grammy Awards, seven Latin Grammy Awards, and has been Golden Globe-nominated. As music critics put it, Proving she's what critics call "a real entertainer." Shakira is one of the few Latin artists to have managed to keep alive an English-language music career, as they usually have a single hit record in English and then continue to release only materials in Spanish.
