Imagine Dragons had a wild ride in "I Bet My Life"

Imagine Dragons returned and give us a wild ride with a new video for "I Bet My Life," the first taste of alternative rock band's as-yet untitled sophomore LP, and the sing-a-long anthem finds the Las Vegas-based rockers in a much mellower mood. The striking clip is a visual feast and a surreal odyssey with a harrowing near-death experience. Directed by Jodeb and stars Spider-Man 2 actor Dane DeHaan, who getting into a fist fight on the shores above the Theodore Roosevelt Dam. Things get stranger from there.
The epic track is full of the bombastic, pounding percussion with a slightly folkier vibe than typified the four-piece's past hits like "Radioactive," and transitions from somewhat apprehensive verses to loud and celebratory choruses. "This song is about the relationship I've had with my parents throughout the years," frontman Dan Reynolds explained. "At times it's been strained and difficult, but in the end, 'I Bet My Life' celebrates the bond that we still hold on to."
The clip captures the emotion of the song, as two young rascals fight, forcing one into the Roosevelt Dam and sending him on a glorious, bizarre adventure. The two dastardly fellows, who are dressed in old-timey clothes despite the video being set in relatively modern times, get into a scuffle near the dam, sending one into the raging, flowing river. he young gent is then sent into an expansive underground tunnel, to an otherworldly journey.
The first stop is an underwater house that was seemingly abandoned years ago. Though the chairs are up on the table and everything is covered in protective white sheets, there is a cozy bed for which the boy can slumber on, before he wakes up... only to find himself in a boat. From there, he sails away to freedom against the river until he tumbles over a waterfall. Though that only lands him in the hands of an adoring crowd. But, the otherworldly adventure was just that, a dream. And the boy awakes at the base of the waterfall, in the arms of his enemy. Was it heaven? Was a life actually bet?

Imagine Dragons wanna be 'On Top of the World'

Imagine Dragons blast into space with the release of their latest video for their uplifting fan favorite "On Top Of The World," the third track from alternative rock band's major-label debut extended play "Continued Silence," as well as the fifth track from their debut studio album "Night Visions." With lyrics describing weightlessness it only makes sense that directors Matt Eastin and Corey Fox chose to set the video's them around the band traveling to space. Imagine Dragons must be feeling as if they are "On Top of the World."
Imagine Dragons has certainly had their breakout year as its mainstream breakthrough continued with tunes like “Radioactive,” "It's Time,"  and "Demons." For the jaunty "Top of the World," the group takes a decidedly lighthearted approach. The new track primarily features guitar and piano instrumentation, with vocals performed by frontman Dan Reynolds. The song is found to be a positive, upbeat track, unlike other songs found on "Night Visions." Their electronically based sound, supported by a moderately quick beat and a mix of piano, guitar and drums, creates a positive feel for their audiences.
The band take the idea of "Top of the World" literally, in their brand-new clip, they're going back in time. "It's a period piece, set in the late 60s, and there were a lot of events of importance that took place then," guitarist Wayne Sermon told MTV News, before the Dragons' EMA performance in Amsterdam. "And it might be covering one or two of them." Reynolds added "It's a very different video; if you've watched our videos, you know to expect the unexpected. But I think this is my favorite. There's a lot going on it it, some if it is subliminal."
The video, which was filmed entirely in the valley just two weeks ago, features dozens of local residents, all enlisted to don their '60s-era garb for the period-set video released today, is one of those clips that you notice new things every time you watch, including the spoof of the Beatles' Abbey Road crossing and the notion that the moon landing was a staged event and didn't really happen. As the video plays on the long-held conspiracy theory that astronaut Neil Armstrong's famous first moonwalk was indeed staged and President Nixon was in on the world-class Hollywood stunt. There are no fighting puppets as in the "Radioactive" clip, but there is a hyper monkey.

Imagine Dragons 'Radioactive' embracing change

American indie rock band Imagine Dragons has released the wonderfully and bizarrely entertaining new video for their intense single, "Radioactive," the opening track and latest single from their debut album, "Night Visions," the title was inspired by the twilight hours, the band's favorite time since a lot of lyrics they have written have come from dreams and of course nightmares after dark.
The Las Vegas rockers open their debut album, "Night Visions," with this track on the subject of embracing change. The frontman Dan Reynolds sings about the realization that the world is becoming different and breaking free by doing something new. Reynolds explained the song's meaning to MTV News: "'Radioactive,' to me, it's very masculine, powerful-sounding song, and the lyrics behind it, there's a lot of personal story behind it, but generally speaking, it's a song about having an awakening; kind of waking up one day and deciding to do something new, and see life in a fresh way."
"A lot of people hear it in a dark way, but, I think, without saying the word too many times, it's empowering, and so we wanted to display that in a way that the listener wouldn't see normally," he said. Though the lyrics suggest dark and broken world, the band has decidedly taken a different route with their Syndrome-directed video, which features features plenty of puppet-on-puppet violence and actors Lou Diamond Phillips and Alexandra Daddario. The clip revolves around a mysterious female drifter who is on a mission to save her Imagine Dragons friends from the perils of a sinister, underground puppet-fighting ring.
"We read through a ton of scripts from really talented directors, and we came across one that stood out to us in particular, because it put into visuals the general theme of the song, which is kind of an empowering song about an awakening, but it did it in a way that was very different," Reynolds told MTV News. "A lot of people probably see a post-apocalyptic world when they hear 'Radioactive,' understandably, but we wanted to deliver something that was maybe a little different from that, a lot different from that."

Imagine Dragons're mystic travelers in "It's Time"

Imagine Dragons have been waiting three years for this day, they finally premiered their first video for "It's Time," the breakout single off of the fast-rising Las Vegas band's latest EP, "Continued Silence." The clip represents the first fruits of their new deal with Interscope Records, and, for a band that has taken its time to get to this point, well, they're definitely enjoying the moment.
Any time I hear music, I also see visuals in my mind," says Imagine Dragons' frontman Dan Reynolds of the video, which was shot on a dry lake bed in Barstow, CA. "'It's Time' is an emotional song that was written at a very transitional period of my life. I've always loved conceptual videos that leave room for the viewer room to interpret it in a way that is most personal to them. That is what we tried to do with this video. The director had a great vision for representing the song’s meaning in a subtle way. We wanted the video to be cinematic and true to the song."
If you were stuck in the middle of the desert after some kind of postapocalyptic shipwreck with your bandmates, what's the one thing you have left to do? Put yourself in infinitely more danger, of course! Imagine Dragons take their cheery, indie-pop tune "It's Time" in a decidedly darker direction in their new video for the track, which opens with the Las Vegas foursome headed out across an eerie desert landscape. Despite the impending thunderstorm, the band is on a quest to find resources. The video doesn't exactly fit the song but it really works.
The clip is basically an updated take on the old "Jack and the Beanstalk" tale, with the band starring as mystic travelers in a very dark world, carrying a very special parcel. Since forming in Vegas in 2009, Imagine Dragons have been on one long voyage, one that's certainly had its share of ups and downs along the way. So with their first proper video out in the world, and plans to begin work on their full-length debut already in the works, Imagine Dragons continue to march on. And in that regard, things are still the same as they've ever been.
