Zendaya embraces '90s fashion in "My Baby"

Following the release of her single "Replay," Zendaya drops the brand-new swag-tastic visuals for her Bobby Brackins-produced track "My Baby." The song was recently remixed by Cali rapper Iamsu and singer/producer Ty Dolla $ign. While Zendaya let her killer dance moves rule her video for "Replay," this time the singer is a bit more relaxed, letting her hip-hop swagger speak for itself as she bounces to the beat. In fact, it's kind of hard not to notice that Zendaya is channeling her idol, '90s R&B star Aaliyah, in the video.
Like 2 Chainz, Zendaya's different. The talented 17-year-old actress/singer proved that she's not your average Disney diva with '90s R&B-flavored debut single "Replay" and hammers the fact home with bouncy urban jam "My Baby." It's a cute change of pace that shows another side of the Disney starlet's bubbly personality. The follow-up urban-pop track taken from her self-titled debut album released last September, was recently also remixed by rappers Ty Dolla $ign, Iamsu and Bobby Brackins.
In the months prior to the release, the singer opened up about embracing both pop and hip-hop in her music. "I'm kind of creating my own music and I'm kind of creating my own zone, my own lane as an artist. I want to do rhythmic pop," Zendaya told MTV News last year. "It's not necessarily your average pop song. It has some kind of urban edge, some kind of more hip-hop-ish tones to it that kind of edge it up and do something a little different so it's not just your stereotypical pop music." Zendaya promised us a while back that she was "gonna swag it out," and with her new video, she keeps that promise.
Zendaya is bringing the '90s back in Stephen Garnet-directed video, as she flaunts her personal style, shows off several different cutting edge styles, and rocks everything from a Diamond Supply Co snapback and teal lipstick to a gothic-looking black cloak and epic fingernails. The Oakland homegirl loves the Raiders Varsity jacket, as she's said before, and she proudly dons the NFL team's gear head-to-toe while singing along to the urban-flavored track. With all the wardrobe changes, "My Baby" is similar to her "Replay" music video. But it's a new look for Zendaya in a couple of different ways, and all eyes are on her.

The 'Dancing With the Stars' runner-up Zendaya has just premiered the music video on Disney Channel for her debut single, "Replay," the lead single from her upcoming self-titled debut album, due out September 17 via Hollywood Records. The 16-year-old actress/singer, is breaking out on her own, has a fervent fan following courtesy of her previous career as the star of Disney Channel sitcom "Shake It Up," but she's about fifty different kinds of grown-woman in her new clip.
The song "Replay" was composed by Tiffany Fred and Paul "Phamous" Shelton. "It's a very special song. I think it's very different and unexpected for me because I feel like it's on a higher level production wise," Zendaya said. "It's one of those songs that's creating its own lane or genre. I don't think it's pop, I don't think it's hip hop, I don't think it's R&B. I don't even know where you would consider it because it kind of mixes that pop sound beat with a very R&B kind of melody" she says in an interview with Radio Disney. Zendaya thinks that the single is not basic pop music, but it has an urban twist to it.
Zendaya has created a seamlessly self-promoting ode to putting a good song on repeat: She kicks the chorus off by singing, "I wanna put this song on replay/I can listen to it all day." But because every song that's about a song is actually about infatuation, she has to tweak the lyrical conceit, making it, "I can listen to you all day... I'm so lost in your sound." And it only works, of course, because the (non-metaphorical sound) of the song is so great, with breathy vocals and a slow-bubbling groove building to the chorus that will get stuck in your head whether you like it or not.
Channeling early Cassie with some slick choreography and a series of glammed-out looks, the Colin Tilley-directed clip is basically just her one long impressive dance break that never ends, but it's quite a statement from the 16-year-old chanteuse, who looking fierce in black and shows off her smooth moves and more mature side in an abandoned warehouse, and, at first, she dances alone in front of the mirror. Later, a few of Zendaya's pals, who just so happen to be stunning male models, join in on the dancing fun, and the crew spends the rest of the afternoon twerking it out and presumably burning more calories than you would after an entire day on the treadmill.

Zendaya Challenges Kids to "Dig Down Deeper"

The Disney Channel series "Shake It Up" star Zendaya Coleman looks like she is having a blast in her new music video for "Dig Down Deeper," a strong anthem for Disney's upcoming animated special film "Pixie Hollow Games," will premiere Saturday, November 19 on Disney Channel. The upbeat tempo song empowers kids to achieve their goals through hard work and steadfastness.
"Pixie Hollow Games" follows spirited newcomer Chloe (Brenda Song) as she, along with Tinker Bell and the fairies and sparrow men of Pixie Hollow, gather for the legendary Pixie Hollow Games, a tournament-style sporting event where Chloe is determined to inspire her trailing team to believe in themselves and bring home the championship. The 15-year-old Disney starlet will also providing the voice of the character Fern.
The song is very catchy, the lyrics are positive, and the dancing is cool. The song is about "digging down deeper" and finding out your true colors; who you really are. I really like how positive this song is and I definitely think that we need more music like this one song. With so much negativity in this world, we truly need more positive songs and this is a song that I think most parents would encourage their children to listen to. "Dig Down Deeper" has premiered on November 5 and will be on iTunes today.
