Nelly Furtado reminds us of the importance of life in her just released inspirational new visual for her latest single, "Bucket List," the fourth European cut from the Canadian singer's latest fifth studio album, "The Spirit Indestructible." The 34-year-old struggling songstress is redefining the word with her latest album. Unlikely to revive the project, the track's release really ups our respect for Furtado.
Furtado isn't giving up on her "The Spirit Indestructible" album for which she's released approximately 25 singles in the past two months despite its lackluster chart performance. After all, it's almost certain that she's funding the roll-out of these singles herself; something artists in both similar and better positions could and should be doing too, if indeed as passionate about their careers as they claim. Success, more often than not, rests in the art of the hustle and Furtado is hustling but at least she's doing something right.
A bucket list is a list of things to do before you kick the bucket away to die. Furtado explained that on this Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins produced track, which finds Furtado speaking about, and showing us, her "Bucket List." she meditates on personal relationships and life goals. "A first kiss with that special someone should? never be at the bottom of anyone's bucket list. Because life is simply too short. And before you know it, you run out of time," Furtado cleverly reminded us at the beginning of the beautiful and evocative video.

You only live once. Furtado celebrates those who live in the moment in the Aaron A-directed video for "Bucket List." And the clip following a group of five adolescents full of life who simply spend the day, walking, chilling and exploring in New York City, as they live their lives while they're young and discover who they are. They climb to the top of skyscrapers, visit Central Park, and end things with a passionate kiss. The lyrics of this song are everything! Nelly Furtado Unveiled "Waiting For The Night"

Nelly Furtado taps into her Latin roots in the enchanting Flamenco-Glam visual for her newest single, "Waiting for the Night," the third European single and  the fourth overall single from the 34-year-old songstress' first English-language fifth studio album in six years, "The Spirit Indestructible." The video isn't too complicated. But it's fun, fierce and fabulously in keeping with one of the best songs off the album.
"Waiting For The Night," produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, is a dance-pop and electro-pop number with elements of Latin pop, R&B and folk featuring accordion and bagpipes. Lyrically, the song is about her having a crush on a boy, and it was inspired by a diary she kept as smitten sixteen-year-old on a summer vacation on São Miguel Island, Portugal, her parent's birthplace. On this track, she snatches the beyond-played-out thrash-dance template and makes it sound, if not fresh, then at least palpably urgent—that is, until it tags out on a wonky accordion riff. Nonetheless, solid effort.
"Waiting For The Night" features the best use of an accordion in pop music since The Wanted's "Glad You Came," and it sounds a lot like you may think a song named 'Waiting For the Night' may sound. Perhaps the catchiest single to come off the album, and with an easily memorable chorus. The song has a Latino/dance feel to it while the video features some sort of voodoo contemporary dance-what's not to love? It's a black and white affair, which may remind you of her Folklore days. Own the night with Furtado.
Works through some geographic displacement, the Canadian Portuguese songbird lights up the screen as as Furtado and her team of dancers don the looks of Dia de los Muertos inspired makeup on only half of her face, doing some sultry noirish swaying with zombie dancers, and working their way through the tango, flamenco and tribal dance in an underground dancehall and shows off her exotic beauty in this new clip. The camera then pans to a group of foreign dancers perform the song around her rocking the same style - only this time, they're clad in white dresses and doing a choreography.

Nelly Furtado shot the funky visuals to her latest banger, "Parking Lot," which is exactly where takes place, and the track is the third single lifted from her just-released fourth English-language studio album, "The Spirit Indestructible," which is shaping up to be the light at the end of a very dark tunnel, and indicative of Furtado's fearlessness when it comes to musical experimentation.
The Nostalgic theme song "Parking Lot," is where she revisits the memories of her hometown, as noted by the teenage-like breezy lyrics, with a repetitious boom-boom-clap beat and a horn loop that barely changes throughout the entire song. Said the 33-year-old Portuguese-Canadian popstar: "All my old memories suddenly became crystal clear to me, and I found myself re-visiting my past in a fresh and colorful way, on songs such as 'Parking Lot,' produced by Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins, where I detail good times in my hometown, sort of like my own take on 'Summer of '69.'"
Furtado has been so unpredictable this era. She sings like she's drunk here, intentionally slurring her words and constantly threatening to forget the melody. It should sound messy, but it doesn't. "Parking Lot" is a celebration of the simple moments of adolescence, when you could spend all day listening to music in your car with your friends and not worry about anything else. It's beautifully nostalgic and provoking, like a trippier take on Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream."
Reflecting the song's title, the Ray Kay-directed clip features the folk/R&B songstress and her friends hitting a party-filled parking lot and having a great time singing and dancing around with full of customized Mini Coopers including ones covered in fur, newspapers, animal print, and even Christmas lights. The 'Mi Plan' hitmaker dances on top of the cars, cuddles with stuffed animals in the backseat, and busts out some hula girl moves against a chain-link fence. Buckle up for the ride.

It is the second single and title track taken from her forthcoming fifth studio album, "The Spirit Indestructible," a follow-up to her 2009 Spanish language album "Mi Plan," and we cannot wait till her mystical, musical tale of soul-strengh album unleashes its power September!
Furtado explained that the Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins produced song, "is an ode to the spirit, which resides in all of us and triumphs over anything. It is inspired by people I have met, and special moments in history that I have read about. This song means a lot of things to me 'cause it does have a spirituality to it and a positivity," the 33-year-old Canadian singer-songwriter expressed. "It's meant to be empowering, it's mean to be a tribute to all of us. We all have indestructible spirits."
Furtado's spirit soars in the Aaron A-directed picturesque visual, which begins with all eyes on Furtado as she takes the center stage with a spotlight shining directly on her for an intimate performance in a theater with a little boy on a mini piano before the Portuguese-Canadian songstress is magically transported to the top of a beautiful snowy mountain in Vancouver, where the singer twirls around while conjuring up her own unbeatable inner strength and soaks up the stunning surroundings.
Furtado then switches into a sick gold leather jacket and leads a crew of shirtless drummer men to a beach for a spiritual drum circle session and a dance around a bonfire. Furtado ends up back atop the mountain, and the snow has melted away, and just as she stands victorious, she is turned into dust and carried by the wind. The song speaks to Furtado's perseverance, and the nature-set video caters perfectly to the song's overall message of unbreakable strength.

Nelly Furtado - "Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)"

Nelly Furtado makes a major comeback with a colorfully quirky video for her latest song, "Big Hoops (Bigger the Better)," the lead single from her upcoming first English-language album in six years, "The Spirit Indestructible." Due June 19, the follow-up to 2006's multi-platinum "Loose" includes an 18-track deluxe edition. The "Big Hoops" video focuses on striking visual rather than a clear concept or storyline. It appears that size does matter for Furtado. Bigger the better!
"Big Hoops (Bigger the Better)," is a "noisy" urban pop song, featuring hip hop beats, staccato percussion and Furtado's Auto-Tuned voice which is solid and sexy. Lyrically, it talks about the singer finding strength in the size of her earrings. The 33-year-old Canadian songstress's vocal swagger, and the towering drum and bass breakdown that closes the song will rock any dance floor. Furtado has given us big hoops. All is balanced in the universe.
Furtado co-wrote every track on "The Spirit Indestructible." She said: "I began writing these songs around the time I released my Spanish album 'Mi Plan.' I was in a great headspace, feeling refreshed and ready to really deliver in English again. This album is all about positivity, youth, good energy, and the relentlessness of the spirit. I want people to live this music the way we did when we wrote it. I want them to jump, dance, scream, laugh, cry, love and vibe to it, and to turn it up very loud everywhere."
There are hoops of all sizes in the Little X-directed video, as Furtado towers over everyone and takes a stroll around the city. But she doesn't wear comfortable sneakers for her walk - homegirl steps out on a giant-ass pair of stilts. As she walks gracefully through the city, she breezes by all the plebeians below her who stare up in awe. A few outfit changes later, the clip shows a colorful side as the Canadian singer dances in various backdrop scenes and practicing with world champion Native American hoop dancer Tony Duncan.

Nelly Furtado Makes A Splash With "Fuerte" Clip

After the multi-platinum success of her fourth Spanish-language studio album "Mi Plan," Nelly Furtado is back! She looks hotter than ever in her brand new music video for "Fuerte"(English: Strong) featuring Spanish jazz singer Concha Buika. The hot new track is the lead single off her forthcoming English-language album which is tentatively called "Lifestyle," out in 2011. Before that she'll also release an eclectic collection of remixes of her greatest hits compilation "The Best of Nelly Furtado" out on November 15.
The music video for "Fuerte" was directed by Richard Bernardin, Robacho Buika and Aaron A. It is basically just a series of beautiful glamor shots of Furtado posing around a giant house. She really looks absolutely stunning though. Perhaps the best she's ever looked. Fashion-wise, her style is incredible and gorgeous. She's shown in various elegant dresses wondering around a lavishly decorated shadowy mansion while she sings to the thumping, bass-drum beat, ultimately cooling off in her private indoor swimming pool and sitting under a mirror in another scene and illuminated by moody lighting as the chorus begins. During the second and third choruses, Concha Buika also features, though appearing separately from Furtado, standing at the bottom of a staircase in a more modern-day building.
Furtado, the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, is known for experimenting with different instruments, sounds, genres, languages, and vocal styles. This diversity has been influenced by her wide-ranging musical taste and her interest in different cultures. Her last album "Mi Plan" (My plan) reflects once again her artistry, diversity and the uniqueness of everything which she writes. It filled with fresh, enthusiastic, fun, freeing, unique, strong and passionate songs that reflect the great moment that Nelly is currently experiencing.
"I'm a little bit picky, so I'm kind of going through all kinds of material, and I think it's a fun thing to celebrate," the Canadian singer/songwriter recently told Billboard. "There's new material I'm writing and old material that's very good and hasn't been re-approached. For me it's about sharing moments of my songs with fans, so whatever are the best moments will end up on the album, I think there's a little bit more of an alternative influence on this new album, kind of how my first album [Whoa, Nelly!] was definitely inspired an partially influenced by 'alternative' music," Furtado said. "It's definitely inspired a lot of the new music that's coming out right now."

Timbaland Premiered "Morning After Dark"

The hip-hop record producer and rapper Timbaland is back in stride, and has premiered exclusively a music video on Timbaland's official website in support of his single "Morning After Dark," features an additional rap verse from Portuguese-Canadian singer Nelly Furtado and his newly-signed French rapper SoShy. "Morning After Dark" is the lead single from his upcoming third studio album, "Shock Value 2," a consciously-styled sequel with an equally intriguing castlist (Katy Perry, Daughtry, Miley Cyrus) which is due for December 8 U.S. release.
Once upon a time, Timbaland was quite the trendsetter with his cutting edge beats and crazy samples. Those days seem to be behind him if his latest video "Morning After Dark" is anything to go by and he's jumped on the vampire-bandwagon. The Twilight-inspired cheesy video/short film was a over 7 minutes in lenghth longer than the song itself and directed by Paul "Coy" Allen, the video features a story plot based on a sexy girl who's spending her last week in Italy reluctantly heads off to a party who has several mysterious encounters with vampires similar to the film 'Twilight' were seen following her but whenever they try to hurt her, Timbaland and SoShy come in their way and trying to guard the girl from mysterious men and protect her. The powerhouse producer recently spilled the beans on crafting a sequel to the song saying "It fits everything going on with the vampire theme, and everything with 'Twilight.' I also have part two to the single too, so it's like a whole little story line to it."
Last Sunday night, the 2009 American Music Awards brought a lot of excitement for music lovers and the event was graced by the popular music sensations of the country, and they made the night full of colors and memorable with their performance. Timbaland made the best use of the night by appearing with both SoShy and Furtado to perform the song from an upcoming album is expected to raise the popularity of the album before its launch. It was one of my personal favorite performances of the night. Timbaland flirtatiously harmonizes over a galactic-sounding, double-speed piano and thumping beats. It has not only given wide exposure to his track but also to the new artist Soshy as she was introduced to thousands of people by this track and it would prove a better start for her career. The trio also hit up 'The Tonight Show' on Monday to belt out the tune for Conan O'Brien. Although, "belt" might not exactly be the proper term. It sounded like Timbaland was sing-rapping over a guide track, but you could still hear his live voice despite all the advanced technology.

Nelly Furtado Reveals Her Latin Album "Mi Plan"

Nelly Furtado has a little suprise for her fans. After appearing as a presenter at the VMAs Sunday night, the portuguese-canadian singer branched out and fulfilled her dream of making her first full length Spanish-language album, "Mi Plan"(Spanish for "My Plan") yesterday internationally. The 30 years old Furtado has sold more than 18 million albums so far and is one of the most recognized artists worldwide. "Mi Plan" is her 4th studio album and 3rd direction shift, is a collection of love songs and more than daring, requited or wishing they were "Being happy is my only plan." Switching languages hasn't changed her pop knack, Furtado has embraced her Latin roots, and the Latino music market. The album's first single, "Manos al Aire," (Hands in the Air), recently hit No. 1 on Billboard's Latin radio chart.
Like fellow Anglo-Latin crossover stars Shakira and Christina Aguilera, Furtado knows the value of keeping all her demographics happy. her musical career has been filled with drastic changes. Mainstream music might traditionally stick to formula but that has never dissuaded Furtado from stirring up her own special recipes. Beneath her toothsomely pretty melodies, there has always been something charmingly off-kilter about Furtado, after making the leap from folk-pop songbird that marked her 2000 debut "Whoa, Nelly!" with Grammy-winning hit "I am Like a Bird," to electro-pop diva with her colossal success 2006 album "Loose", she has decided to change her stripes yet again, has put out an album of supremely catchy, indulging her love of Latin pop-rock with "Mi Plan," her first LP sung entirely in Spanish, a language she said she learned as a teen, record filled with famous Latino guest stars.
Furtado is trying to cross over in a direction many artists don't ordinarily take. It's seems like a natural progression for her, an artist often noted for diversity in her sound. She has a ways to go, then, although her singing on "Mi Plan" is more openly emotive than ever accentuated by her telenovela-style videos and her strikingly monochrome attire. Her subject matter is moving on as well. Spanish is not Furtado's first language. In fact, the Grammy-winner says she is only "50-60%" fluent en Espanol, so her linguistic gymnastics are a gutsy move. They were also omething of a happy accident. The star discloses "I can be a little more dramatic than I can be in an English song, I'm not a natural dancer, it takes a lot of effort for me to learn all that choreography, and the last album was definitely a learning experience. I get to feel like a brand new artist again, it feels cool and it's really hard to reinvent yourself after 10 years doing it."
