Lorde dreams up a different world in "Team"

To close out the year, New Zealand electro pop songstress Lorde has released a magical new arresting, adult-free video for her excellent ballad "Team," the second single and follow-up to her massive debut hit tune "Royals" taken from the 17-year-old chanteuse's debut LP, "Pure Heroine," the seventh best album of 2013. The down-tempo track, draws from the genres of pop, rock, electronic dance and electrohop, gets a suitably dark clip which is a beauteous, slightly melancholic series of striking images and a must-see.
Filmed in Red Hook, Brooklyn, the Young Replicant-directed clip opens with picturesque shots of the ocean, before settling on a giant abandoned edifice on the water. Inside, sporting a set of braids, is the self-anointed "queen bee," Lorde. Surrounded by greenery, the singer is flanked by her minions-who've all been transported to this mystical commune, and pass around a gallon jug of some mysterious blue liquid as she croons the song's addictive chorus. This is the "palace" within Lorde's dreams and it is, by the looks of it, a pretty magical place.
In between shots of the teenage pop singer spazzing out in a blue, foliage-filled universe, two young men have it out with one another, indulging in kidnapping and motorbike jousting. It's an unseen city, apparently, without any parental guidance. Lorde finds herself on what appears to be an island of misfit teens. It's a place that looks like the villain's lair from Skyfall, where Lorde sings about themes familiar from her breakout single while a dirt-bike jousting tournament takes place. The message of the story, at least according to the refrain about being "on each other's team," is one of togetherness, but the down-tempo track and bleak visuals suggest otherwise.
"This video was borne from a dream I had a few months ago about teenagers in their own world, a world with hierarchies and initiations, where the boy who was second in command had acne on his face, and so did the girl who was queen," Lorde posted on Facebook when the video debuted on last Tuesday. "I dreamt about this world being so different to anything anyone had ever seen, a dark world full of tropical plants and ruins and sweat. and of this world, I dreamt about tests that didn't need to be passed in order to be allowed in: sometimes the person who loses is stronger. Enjoy XX!"

T.I. And Keri Hilson Stay True In "Got Your Back"

Southern rapper T.I. brings the story of his life to the small screen by adapting it for "Got Your Back" music video. The track is the first official single off Tip's highly anticipated seventh studio album "King Uncaged" which is set to hit stores on September 28. The Keri Hilson-featuring new video is inspired by a chapter in T.I.'s life who spent much of 2009 behind bars for weapon possession charge, and the Atlanta rapper rhymes about a lover holding him down during arduous times, and he shows love to the women who stand by their man despite legal woes.
Got Your Back" is a female-friendly cut that essentially attempts to recreate the magic of "Whatever You Like." The song features a bright and bouncy electro/synth beat with a super catchy chorus provided by the ultra fashionable Hilson, while T.I. raps the verses and harmonizes in the song's melodic bridge. "[It's] basically just me showing my appreciation to all the ladies who got they man's back in the world, acknowledging the one who had my back and acknowledging the ones that got they man's back at the same time," T.I. explained about the song to Jamie Foxx. Tip's flawless rap technique with Hilson's incredible vocals makes for one hit fans won't be able to get out of their head.
The clip begins with a couple sitting in a sterile courtroom, the man seated before the judge and his love, tearful, sitting in the row behind him. The video then segues to another couple, showing the female love interest having lunch with her man at his loading-dock job. The visual transitions again to the pair making the best of what legal troubles have done to their lives: She shares a laugh with her incarcerated love during a visit to him in jail. Whether it's the easy bliss of one romance or the strain of another, the clip represents how both women get his back. The rest of the video shows Tip and Hilson performers grooving to "Got Your Back" in various well-chosen outfits, often while separated by a symbolic wall. At the end, T.I.'s real-life fiancée Tomeka "Tiny" Cottle makes a cameo, throwing her hand on the rapper's shoulder in support.
T.I., one of the biggest names in hip-hop, gradually came into his own and established himself as one of rap's most successful MCs during the early 2000s. Father, astute businessman, fashion icon, King of the South, future Hollywood A-Lister, and hip-hop standard bearer. With all these titles, no wonder Atlanta, GA native Clifford Harris needs two monikers to tell his whole story. And with the release of the year's most anticipated rap album, T.I. vs. TIP, we get both sides of one of contemporary music's most compelling characters, who carried a balance of smoothness and toughness.

B.o.B Debuts "Nothin' On You" Feat. Bruno Mars

The new rap sensation B.o.B aka Bobby Ray finally released the official video last Tuesday night for his lead single "Nothin' On You" featuring artist Bruno Mars from his soon-to-be-released debut LP "The Adventures Of Bobby Ray," which will due in stores April 27. The Ethan Lader-directed music video was filmed from Los Angeles, along with Bruno Mars, the Atlanta rapper is making his way to London, to Tokyo, to Georgia, to New Orleans wooing beautiful ladies in those big cities.
It has been an interesting journey for Atlanta native B.o.B as he has grown from being a relative unknown to quickly becoming a legitimate rising star. Signed to T.I.'s label Grand Hustle movement, the 21-year-old is about to crack the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 with this new track "Nothin' On You," one of my favorite songs of the past few months. The song samples Common's 2005 track "Go!" and it's amazing to see the single come full circle with a dope video and gets crazy amounts of spins on the radio all over the country. Hailed as 'the next big star' by both VIBE and XXL, it appears this young Atlanta-native is destined for big things.
B.o.B, also known as Bobby Ray, has been known for having a very unique view on music and has used different methods in his music videos. As you should expect with a creative artist such as B.o.B., the latest video provides a fresh take on the song through its unique production. The video, perhaps inspired by the May 25 mixtape cover, plays off of magazine cutouts that are sometimes pieced together as you can see several women in picture form, along with the artists, as they walking through the Photoshop collage street. The result is a neat, rarely seen visual that adds to the video's concept, rather than detracts from it. As you might be able to envision, the video does bring to life the lyrics with B.o.B. walking into the sunset at the end of the video with his chosen one. It's very interesting to look at and seems to flow well with the song and maintaining relevance to it while proving to be unique in its presentation.

Lil Wayne And Eminem Unveil "Drop The World"

It seems like the entire world has been waiting for rapper megastars, Lil Wayne and Eminem, to team up for an epic hot verse-spitting track. It's finally here! The dream collaboration of Rap moguls has been expressed in video form, for their single "Drop The World," which was supposed to be premiered March 11 on MTV has been debuted days earlier than the schedule. The single is the third official single off Wayne's seventh and also first rock-inspired studio album "Rebirth," and it's rock feel is depicted accurately in this earth shattering video.
Wayne and Eminem both were featured together on Drake's hit "Forever" with Drake and Kanye West, so it was only a matter of time before the two would pair up again. The song is an angry message toward critics and haters of the duo's careers, while the Chris Robinson-directed video sees how Weezy and the Slim Shady appear on the street and spit their verses and among a gang of people around them running wild from every direction. Broken glasses shatter on the ground and fire set ablaze, giving a chaotic scene. It shows a warzone-like atmosphere, as if the world was coming to an end. The clip is filled with a ton of digital destruction and mayhem, similar to an average action movie and just without the traditional jailbreak scene.
The video was filmed on the eve of the Grammys, Robinson described the shoot for the video as "Just energy. It was a one-day shoot, and Wayne was on the set for upward of 14 hours." "You got two guys who are basically huge supernovas coming together, and the way that the song is constructed is great," Chris Robinson tells MTV News. "Because unless you see it coming, you don't know Eminem is on the track. The first two hooks and the first two verses are all Wayne, and it's kind of a surprise when Eminem comes through, and we matched it visually how Eminem enters the piece."

BEP Battle Robots In 'Imma Be Rockin' That Body'

It's a double music video premiered back to back on Dipdive! Futuristic four-piece the Black Eyed Peas have proven that they really so 3008 with their latest fourth music video "Imma Be Rocking That Body", which is actually a combination of the songs "Imma Be"(U.S. single) and "Rock That Body"(U.K. & Europe single) from the groups chart topping and Grammy-award winning multi-platinum album "The E.N.D." which has pulled in more than 5 million copies worldwide since being released in June last year.
The Black Eyed Peas are looking and sounding like they are going the charts again with this double slammer of a video that lasts 10 minutes plus. The Black Eyed Peas battle robots in their sci-fi adventure two-in-one video, which was shot in a desert road in Lancaster, California on January 13 and directed by Rich Lee. The filming process was once forced to be halted when a sudden gust of sand swept the set and made it an unsafe environment for the artists and crew. The video, including robotic dancers, falls along the futuristic path and the combined tune is all about the beats, partying and the future. The two new singles are catchy and funnily enough make the lackluster passion from the disc mean something.
It kicks off with will.i.am explaining his vision about the group's future in the next millennium and telling the group how the future won't need them any more. Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie, wearing Louboutin designer footwear and a black metallic leotard, who disagrees with the idea leaves the group in outrage, driving a BMW motorcycle and strutting down a desert road surrounded by freaky reptiles, followed by an insane battle between the Peas, their robot friends, and some less friendly robot bad guys. Then, the video is rolled featuring lots of futuristic scenes, and it gets all 'Terminator'/'District 9' styled. The weirdness continues but the message is clear if you are aware enough to understand it. The visually stunning Rich Lee-directed music video features lots of computerized special effects and comprises of Transformers/robots getting into the groove of things. You've got to give it to them for setting the bar with their latest videos. Both epic and hypnotizing!
