Hey Monday Debut "Candles" Featuring On 'Glee'

Florida pop outfit Hey Monday have released a new music video for the revamped version of their hit single "Candles" on Just Jared. The Florida natives, fronted by Cassadee Pope, find themselves in a bleak, casually haunted house, surrounded by 15 fire hazards' worth of candles, which signify that this is very much a torch song. It almost feels like the chapter that should follow Taylor Swift's "Back To December" video. You know -- houses, sadness, regret, melancholia. The new video revealed an all new arrangement and re-recorded vocals by lead singer Pope.
"Candles" is a title song from their sophomore EP, "Candles." The song has two versions. The first version was featured on the band's 2008 debut album, "Hold on Tight." The second version was recorded while they were making their first EP, "Beneath It All." It was also announced that the single would be released along with an acoustic version and a new song called "The One That Got Away." Pope explained the differences between the new and old version of the song. "As musicians and as people, we have grown so much in the last three years," she said. "I think the new 'Candles' really reflects that with its richer textures and more sophisticated arrangement. It's more uplifting now, as well, and translates really well live!"
Although fans have grown to love the original ballad, they will undoubtedly gravitate toward the updated version, which has been re-recorded and arranged with different instrumentation for a bolder sound. Pope's lyrics remain the same, yet in this version, she seems to sing her words with less heartache and more aplomb. Frontwoman says, "'Candles' has always been a precious song to all of us. It was our first ballad, and even more importantly, a very honest song lyrically. I went through a difficult break-up when I was 17 and this song was like my therapy session. Since we started playing it live 3 years ago, we've had different ideas to change it up and make it evolve. That's why I'm very excited about this new version. It's more organic sounding now. I was able to re-record the vocals and pretty much sing the song exactly like I do live."
Now the good news for American four-piece pop-punk band Hey Monday is that "Candles" will also be featured on tonight's episode of "Glee," which is, without a doubt, the TV show on which you want your music heard these days if you're looking to make a splash with the same kids who rush to iTunes the moment Lea Michele lets out a note. Of course, Pope couldn't be more excited for the pop ballad cover. "It is an honor to have our song covered by one of the biggest show on television," the 21-year-old tells JSYK exclusively. "I think 'Glee' is amazing -- it's a breath of fresh air and I especially admire a show that revolves around music. I can't wait to hear their rendition of 'Candles'!" Hey Monday Rocking In "I Don't Wanna Dance"

Alternative popsters Hey Monday have unveiled their music video exclusively on MTV Networks for "I Don't Wanna Dance," the lead single from their forthcoming debut 6-song mini EP, "Beneath It All," from it being a LP to an EP, which hits shelves in August 17, and will be their first release with new member Patrick McKenzie taking over on drums. The pop punk band has been playing new songs from the EP this summer while out on Warped Tour.
Led by powerhouse vocalist Cassadee Pope, Hey Monday lace their infectious emo-pop with alt-rock guitars and slick studio production. The band formed in West Palm Beach, FL, where Pope was first discovered at a regional music conference. Although still in high school, the singer drew attention from A&R execs with her voice, which recalled the radio-ready wails of Avril Lavigne and Paramore's Hayley Williams. She then formed a band.
The track itself manages to send the crowd to jump up and down, following the peppy, guitar-led pop confection, but what really sets it apart are the powerhouse pipes of lead singer Pope, who sounds like an angrier Belinda Carlisle as she shoots down a would-be lover. Pope actually starts the song with the rebel yell "Take me home!" The Petro Papahadjopoulos-directed video takes place in what looks like a parking lot, as the West Palm Beach, and showcases a high energy performance from Florida band, are no strangers to the road and race through the raucous pop-rock song. While all this rocking out is taking place, some heartbreak goes down as well, as a too-cool-for-school guy gets his just desserts from some ladies he's wronged.
"It was kind of a group effort, and we were all on the same page about it, so that's why it ended up being so great," Pope said about their upcoming album, "Beneath It All." "Everyone wanted the same thing - a mature, organic sound." Commenting on her influence in writing songs, she shared, "I started writing the record a long time ago, and was listening to a lot of Battle Studies. John Mayer is a lyrical genius, and one of those artists who really made me want to up my game." If every Monday were as invigorating and infectious as Hey Monday, there would be no reason to look forward to weekends.

Hey Monday Premiered "How You Love Me Now"

The four-piece power pop punk band, Hey Monday have debut a fun new music video for "How You Love Me Now," the lead single from their debut album "Hold On Tight" on 'Seventeen.'
Originally from West Palm Beach, Florida, Hey Monday features a female lead singer, Cassadee Pope, a nice addition to the band, guitarists Mike Gentile and Alex Lipshaw, and bassist Jersey Moriarty - are signed to Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz's Decaydance Records label. Hey Monday is set to grow as they've been supporting some of the largest names on the alternative rock circuit. The first big hit "How You Loved Me Now" is circulating radio stations nationwide and the debut album "Hold On Tight" peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The video shows the band along with several other people in uniform working as employees at a beachside restaurant. As they walk out onto the terrace, a man is shown sitting with three girls and talking to them. As Cassadee walks past, he stops and gets up to talk to her. As the video proceeds, the man is chatting up several other girls while the employees, including the band, serve customers before walking away in relief. A beach olympics is held for the employees against the customers. The employees win as Cassadee distracts the same man who tried to chat her up from the start. Throughout the video, there are several scenes of the band performing in a room in front of a blue backdrop with white squiggles. The video ends with the band performing in front of a small crowd of people as the man tries to reach the front to Cassadee.
Led by dynamic frontwoman Cassadee Pope, Hey Monday are currently on the road as part of the Glamour Kills Tour along with All Time Low, We the Kings and The Friday Night Boys. The tour starts Firday from Portland' Roseland Theater, will be performing at the sold-out concert inside the Showbox At The Market in Seattle on today, and runs through December 3, and will be followed by a handful of radio shows throughout December.
