Little Mix calling women to join forces in "Salute"

The time has come to get your killer heels, sneakers, pumps or lace up boots on as after what feels like an eternity of teaser clips and sneaky hints, Little Mix have finally decided to put us out of our misery and unveil the video for new single "Salute." Little Mix definitely watched Beyonce's "Run The World (Girls)" video multiple times before shooting the visuals for "Salute." The TMS-produced female anthem is the third single and title track from the British girl group's sophomore album of the same name.
Co-written by the group, Maegan Cottone and TMS, the energetic anthem "Salute," is a rumbling R&B number with a military theme and a feisty feminist anthem that is all about empowering women, calling women to join forces. Explaining the message of the song, Perrie said: "It's about the force of women and being united and strong." Leigh-Anne also told MTV News: "I think we all absolutely love 'Salute.' We all wanted to write a song - a real proper, empowering girl-power song for such a long time, and for this album we got it." This is a song from girls to girls, and its urban sound has makes it sound even edgier, and a little bit Destiny's Child too.
And the video is equally upbeat, with the girls looking fierce and appearing to have taken inspiration from Destiny's Child with their sexy choreography and impressive moves in a warehouse. It was just a little over two years that they were fresh-faced wannabes being crowned winners of The X Factor. And Little Mix are showing a rather grungier, dirtier and sexier than ever in their "Salute" clip. As usual, the gals decided a totally awesome dance routine packed with hair flicking and with a message about girl power.
Starting off with a slightly sinister and rather sexy spin of the "Taps" military, the clip takes the army commands "attention" and "salute" and uses them as a call to arms for ladies everywhere. Eldest bandmember Jesy Nelson shows off her fabulous curves in a leather leotard and thigh-high leather boots. In contrast, Perrie Edwards is rather more covered up in black trousers, Doc Martens and a sleeveless T-shirt as she sings in the rain onboard some kind of heavy machinery. Meanwhile, Jade Thirlwall strikes a feisty pose as she sits in a rusting forklift truck, showing off a lot of leg in her black ensemble. Completing the four-piece is Leigh-Anne Pinnock who looks tough as she sits in her 'throne' surveying the room.

Little Mix hit a fitness center in "Word Up!"

If you're a young British girl group who are traveling down the tried-and-true road paved by the Spice Girls, and you've been commissioned to record the official 'Sports Relief' charity single, then you'd best enlist Melanie 'Sporty Spice' Chisholm, aka, 'Mel C' for at least a cameo in the music video. And actually, that's exactly what Little Mix did for their "Word Up!" visual. The ladies of the X Factor girlband have taken a few tips from Mel C as they hit a gleaming fitness center and channeled their 1990s Sporty Spice look for their version of Cameo's track.
The new song is not included on the album because it's confirmed as the 2014 Sport Relief single. Sport Relief is a biennial charity event in conjunction with Comedy Relief, merges entertainment with sport to raise money and awareness to people both in the UK and the world's poorest countries. Each year, Sport Relief has a single used to promote the charity event. This year's Sport Relief fundraiser will take place between March 21 and March 23. "We've all seen people push themselves and do incredible things for Sport Relief, so it's a dream come true to be releasing the official single this year," Perrie Edwards previously said.
The R&B/funk song, "Word Up!" is a cover of American soul-influenced funk group Cameo's 1986 funk-pop classic hit of the same name, which has also been a hit for Gun and Spice Girl Mel B, will be released on March 16 with a CD on sale the following day, and it can be pre-ordered on iTunes now. The star-studded video is a virtual camp fest that finds the quartet aerobicising and creating all-around chaos while several well-known faces flash by the camera, including Olympic gymnast Louis Smith, Lara Croft: 'Tomb Raider' actor Chris Barrie and, of course, Spice Girls star Mel C.
The sports themed promo sees the four girls all exercise with a number of famous faces, and pulled out their best Sporty Spice impressions as they showed off their incredible gym gear and burst into action in a selection of funky running gear and appear to break quite a sweat on the treadmill and spin bikes as they dance energetically around. With Jade 'sporting' (wheeey) some cute coral leggings with a pink sports bra, Jesy rocking her trademark basketball jersey and minxy eye make up, Leigh-Anne looking like a total tennis megababe and Perrie pouting away in a monochrome number, and yes, we're really missing the 90s today.

Little Mix belt out the words to their "Little Me"

Unlike their usual pop-style self, Little Mix have unveiled a rather more emotional looking black and white video for their ode to female empowerment, "Little Me," the second single off British girl group's upcoming  sophomore album "Salute," which is due to hit stores in the US on February 4. The fabulous four - Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall, and Perrie Edwards - are caught in a derelict building as they belt out their heartfelt tune about going back in time to give words of encouragement to their younger selves.
This stripped-back ballad finds Little Mix singing about what they'd say to their younger selves, given the chance. They would encourage their 'little me' to speak up for themselves and stand tall. This samples at the start and end of the song the melody from French composer Faure's "Pavane." Nelson explained that the girls wrote the track as advice for their young fans: "'Little Me' is about how there are so many things you used to worry about when you were little," she said. "Just the stupidest little things, and then as you get older you just think back and go 'I wish I'd have done this or I wish I'd done that.'"
The '90s throwback masters Little Mix have been known for their uplifting tunes, and now with new single "Little Me," the girls are set to prove that girl power is here to stay. After the success of the sassy lead single "Move," the new track which the girls describe as "the baby to 'Change Your Life'" embodies the band's important message to be yourself and to never give up. While "Move" saw the gals getting all sassy with a bunch of fit guys and flashy lights, Little Me's all stripped-back, moody and meaningful. The song has an inspiring message of what you would tell yourself when you were younger, and the video intermixes it with different people's "little me" messages.
In the inspiring video, we meet group of adorable young girls talk about what they want to be when they grow up, and tell stories of their aspirations, struggles and how they overcame their obstacles. As the clip introduces us to more little kids with big dreams, Little Mix moodily sing the words to "Little Me" while camped out in a dingy warehouse. "We wanted to have a song for the fans to relate to, but also for us to relate to as well," Pinnock explained to their new clip. "I think we've all been through it, you want to tell your little self 'Don't worry, the spots are going to go away.' 'Don't worry, they're picking on you now but you're gonna be a superstar in ten years time.'"

Little Mix thrashing out stomping dance "Move"

Following their DNA Tour, British girl group Little Mix is back with a feisty video for their fantastic new single "Move," the lead single from Little Mix's upcoming sophomore studio album, "Salute," which due out overseas on November 11th. The foursome - Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson, and Perrie Edwards - will bring "Salute" to fans when the group joins Demi Lovato on her Neon Lights tour beginning in February 2014. Fifth Harmony and Cher Lloyd are also serving as support on the trek.
The energizing "Move," was co-written by the girls and is a taste of what's to come from their follow up to debut album "DNA." Lyrically, the song talks of boys who think they are too cool to dance and ultimately leads to Little Mix telling them to move. And sonically, the song moves away from Little Mix's previous melody-led ventures and features more quirky sounds with bass synth. The song explores a more mature tone with elements of R&B. If this ambitiously rhythmic bite of breathy flirtation is an indication of the U.K. "X Factor" winners' sonic evolution, consider us highly intrigued.
The upbeat number is a blend of bubblegum pop and cowbell-jangling funk. Little Mix admitted to Digital Spy that they took a risk with releasing this as Salute's lead single. Speaking about why they chose "Move" to kick off the second album, Nelson told PopSugar: "We just think it's fun. It's what Little Mix are about. The song's about not taking yourself too seriously. I still feel like it's got the same vibe that [debut single] 'Wings' had, but it's more mature and grown-up. Our music is just evolving, as we are."
Wearing crop tops, plaid pants and of course, their signature neon lipstick, Little Mix have gone old school in their dance-y new clip for "Move," which mixes an appreciation for throwback choreography with slow-motion sultriness, harkens back to the glorious days of early-00s bubblegum pop and definitely feeling an early '90s Madonna vibe with a side of major attitude. Fun times are generally had by all, and it certainly appears like a certain U.K. female pop four-piece group is in top shape and in charge as they boss their male dancers about in a studio.

Little Mix sings The X Factor "Change Your Life"

Squeal with excitement pop lovers, Little Mix, the best-selling British girl group of 2012 are back with a brand new music video in support of their latest inspirational girl power theme song, "Change Your Life," the third single to be lifted from their debut album, "DNA," has been made available in stores since last November 19 in the U.S.
Formed in 2011 during the eighth season of British "The X Factor," consisting of members Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall. The four Little Mix girls wrote this song about the way their lives have changed after winning 2011 champion of The X Factor. It's a given that every girl group needs a stirring mid-tempo for a 'raise your mobile phones in the air' moment come the big headline tour. That said, get the slowie wrong and you could end up with a snooze-fest on your hands.
Luckily for Little Mix, taking it down a notch with their new single 'Change Your Life' avoids such results, as they attempt to reinvigorate the Girl Power boom of the late '90s. The four-piece pledge over spiraling piano and rousing strings, reaffirming their sisterhood chemistry in pitch-perfect harmony. Almost channeling All Saints' "Never Ever," the tune begins with a spoken-word intro from Leigh-Anne. Very dramatic, very serious, lovely stuff. And then the power-ballad with an empowering message takes an epic turn as the mid-tempo stadium anthem really kicks in and against a backdrop of tumbling R&B piano chords and a pulsating, driving beat.
The low-budget clip takes us backstage and shows the girl group performing the empowering song in a recording studio, dancing rehearsals for their current headline tour of the UK, and hugging their mothers in a dressing room before heading onto the stage and features footage of the girls promoting their debut album. We see how literally the girls' lives have abruptly changed in the last year thanks to their victory on 'The X Factor UK' and chart success. The track is about 'changing your life,' so the documentation of the girl group's rise to fame is fitting.

Little Mix Debut Montage Video For "Cannonball"

After capturing the hearts of the nation as the first ever girl band to reach the final of the competition two weeks ago, Little Mix have released the music video for their debut single "Cannonball." The stunning and emotive track and their X Factor winner's single is a cover of Irish folk singer Damien Rice's song. The video itself takes an emotional look back at the X Factor journey from the moment they were put together to their victorious win, but many have noted the lack of any new footage whatsoever.
Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock all entered The X Factor this year as solo artists. They were given a second chance at the final stage of boot camp when the judges decided to form a new girl group, and Little Mix was born. During the last four months Little Mix have enchanted audiences with their inventive performances and smooth harmonies. Mentored by N-Dubz's Tulisa Contostavlos their renditions of modern classics have helped them ensnare the imagination of millions.
Robert Copsey of Digital Spy Blog gave the song a positive review, stating: "Naturally the production has been given the deluxe valet, swapping the raw acoustics of the original for a Casio keyboard piano riff, fist-clenching strings and the inevitable key change. But credit where it's due, they've played around with it enough to distance themselves from the original."
The music video for "Cannonball" depicts their best moments throughout The X Factor, and their performance of the single. While fans can see the traditional black and white montage of the girls' journey from boot camp to their victory earlier this month, in between there is only footage of Little Mix performing the song at Wembley Arena during the grand final. Still, the ladies conceptually present quite the compelling package for the Pop-Urban landscape over here. A fact which’ll no doubt unravel itself once they launch "properly" post the show's hype.
