Lana Del Rey unleashes her sensual side in the monochromatic new video for her cowgirl anthem "Blue Jeans," the third cut taken from her major-label debut ablum, "Born to Die," which debuted at No.2 on the Billboard 200 chart. The lush-lipped singer and songwriter, has been making headlines since the release of her "Born To Die," and as the release of her latest single, "Blue Jeans," approaches, it appears that the young songstress hasn't lost her ability to stir up controversy.
This sleazy, gangsta track finds Del Rey singing of her love for her blue-jeaned James Dean-lookalike boyfriend. "You fit me better than my favorite sweater," she sings. Her heart is crushed when he walks out on her. The newly released sees the 25-year-old instead in a classic one-piece bathing suit, flashing her patented blend of emotionless allure as she devotes her heart to and then laments the breakup with a pursuant swimmer. Black and white and pulling focus throughout, the video rocks like a boat floating on a calm sea, better to peer deeply into Del Rey's unblinking eyes.
Like many of the songs on "Born To Die," this was inspired by an actual relationship that went sour for the singer. She said in an interview: "It's not my fault that love went bad. I met this person I was going to spend the rest of my life with. We were both clean and sober. We lived together and then he started getting into trouble, and he had to leave. There's a lot of facets to my life, they don't all seem like they would come together. It's been a strange ride."
Del Rey teams up with director Yoann Lemoine and Actor/Model Bradley Soileau again for her new slick black-and-white clip, in which the sultry singer cavorts around a pool in a retro '50s-era one-piece white vintage-looking bathing suit, still looks good. She is pursued by a pair of alligators and heavily tattooed model Soileau. Maybe it defies the laws of nature, but the New York-born singer's red-hot rise will suffer no cool down from the watery dive in her new video. The latest move is just another polarizing ploy by the young singer that has many in the media gawking over her ability to garner attention.
