Ne-Yo can't escape stripper pole in "She Knows"

Ne-Yo loves the strip clubs but he can't seem to shake them when he's out doing errands, and he can’t escape the strip club either in the raunchy video for his latest banger "She Knows." The racy and humorous clip starring alongside the R&B singer and rapper Juicy J, as well as some talented pole dancers. The Juicy J-assisted urban track, "She Knows," is the latest single lifted from Ne-Yo's upcoming sixth album “Non Fiction,” which he's dubbing the "Rebirth of Storytelling," Ne-Yo is telling tales that stem from his own life and the lives of his fans.
But with "She Knows," a horn-infused club banger produced by Dr. Luke, Ne-Yo wanted to get you dancing. Or, really, get strippers dancing. "I wanted to make something for the strip club that isn't just for the strip club," he says. "It’s a record that could move. It's for the house party, for the strip club. It's something to get you going in the morning or before you head out for the night." "She Knows" is about a woman who has the confident and "swagger" to own the world (and she also knows how to “drop it down” with her sick body). Sonically, "She Knows" marries a "Problem"-style horn riff with a minimal trap beat, and comes out sounding very trendy indeed.

At first glance, the Emil Nava-directed risqué video featuring Juicy J may not seem like a ballad meant to empower women with a number of pole dancers performing in a series of rather inappropriate places, including a convenience store, a library, a sidewalk and an office. However, the 31-year-old R&B singer tips his hat to the skin-flaunting woman who is aware of her sex appeal and simply oozes confidence. In fact, the video features four women Ne-Yo hand selected, who own pole dancing studios, compete nationally or have competed in shows across the nation to be part of the video.
The clip shows Ne-Yo and his entourage having the time of their lives and slapping booties at a club. Each of the women have a story about who they are and why they decided to get into the sport of pole dancing. One of the dancers has a circus background, another is a stunt double and a third teaches classes at her own Los Angeles studio. Ne-Yo believes their individual stories give the song a whole new meaning and purpose. A woman "knows" she knows what she's doing when she walks into a room. "She's smart, sexy, and she owns it. Celine Dion/Ne-Yo dance on a roof in 'Incredible'

Celine Dion, the queen of the power ballad is back and she has brought reinforcements as the 46-year-old Canadian singer teamed up with the American R&B hitmaker Ne-Yo on a new video for their power ballad "Incredible," the second single from the ballad queen's English-language studio album, "Loved Me Back to Life." Fan's have long been awaiting the music video release, after they performed the single on 'The Voice' last year. The video is simply incredible!
This song about an unbelievable love affair is a duet with Ne-Yo and has Dion reverting to type with a trite ballad that vows their love will "go down in history," but their voices do meld soulfully. The tune is soulful, modern and subtle with palpable R&B undercurrent and cheesy heart-felt lyrics. Apart from the first verse, "The whole world is watching us now/ Since there's no way to come down," the entire four minute single seems to be a variation on the song's chorus, "Let's make them remember. Using one word incredible... We'll go down in history, they'll describe our love as incredible."
While "Incredible" is about a couple's love, the video is clearly meant to inspire. Filmed in Los Angeles by director Zach Merck, both at night and during the day, the montage of different segments is meant to offer something for everyone. As the four minute short simply features Dion and Ne-Yo appear to feign some good chemistry and prove a perfect pair as they grip their hands tightly with their eyes close while singing the word "incredible." The duo spend most of the video belting out the track atop a building's rooftop, overlooking downtown Los Angeles, interspersed with footage of real-life people showing off their incredible talents.
A young girl singing the lyrics as well as a woman wowing her peers with her break dancing and a football player who just won't quit as well as a misplaced giraffe on the loose wandering around the city. This gives the Canadian diva ample opportunity to power grab for her life and make iconic faces, while her duet partner looks on sheepishly. That scene is intercut with footage of real-life heroes and a giraffe taking a leisurely stroll. "Incredible" is the highlight of Dion's underrated "Loved Me Back To Life" LP and deserves more attention from pop fans. Watch the pair in action after the jump.

David Guetta, Ne-Yo and Akon are "Play Hard"

After multiple previews, David Guetta finally unleashed the official visuals for his old co-horts Akon and Ne-Yo-assisted new dance track, "Play Hard," the third single from the re-release of 45-year-old French DJ and record producer's fifth studio album, "Nothing but the Beat 2.0," out now on iTunes. The wacky and tacky video, on the other hand, alternates between inexplicable weirdness and poking fun at racial stereotypes — once some people might find offensive!
The chorus melody of the song, "Play Hard," for a soon to be summer club classic is all about working and playing hard, heavily incorporates the classic sample from Alice Deejay and DJ Jurgen's 1999 Eurodance hit "Better Off Alone." The iconic beat track's message is simple: First you work hard, then you play hard, and after that you start all over again - it's the circle of life!
With an arsenal of cataloged wildin out, club tunes it should come as no surprise that French producer has opted to "Play Hard" on his latest fresh dance tune. Joining Guetta on his electro-heavy jam are hitmakers - American R&B singer-songwriter Ne-Yo and American-Senegalese singer/rapper Akon, who both provide the vocal backing for the record, which also takes advantage of a few audio techniques. Both artists also previously collaborated with Guetta on tracks from his "One Love" album - Ne-Yo on "Choose" and Akon on "Sexy Chick." Guetta also produced Akon's 2010 single "Angel."
Pop and Latin American culture meet in Guetta's latest visual ride. The French DJ/producer gets a taste of life in Mexico as he takes a trip down south with Ne-Yo and Akon. The fun-filled clip includes from rodeo's to Ne-Yo eating pancakes to Guetta getting his body inked before hitting a classic rodeo show. Instead of bull riding, the three international stars round up to judge a good old dance competition. The clip has just about everything going on in it. However, the barrage of attention-grabbing visuals won't distract you from the infectious beat, which is really all that matters.

Jessica Sanchez dances night away in "Tonight"

Ten months after came up a little short as runner-up on Season 11 of American Idol, 17-year-old diva-in-training Jessica Sanchez is back with a brand new club-tastic music video for her debut club-ready track, "Tonight," a club thumper featuring R&B prince Ne-Yo, who penned the track, will be served as the lead single from her forthcoming debut album, "Me, You and the Music," which is reported to be upbeat and high-energy and set to feature ballads but will exhibit "more of an R&B/Pop/Urban kind of feel," due out April 30 via Interscope.
Sanchez has a diva's voice a la Mariah Carey or Beyonce, but she's going the dance pop route on her super fresh uptempo, bubbly, dance tune, "Tonight," which teams the diminutive teenager with the very big voice with Ne-Yo on a snappy, dance-oriented song that draws equally from R&B and pop. Spoke of the song, Sanchez described it as "fun, clubby dancy song," and saying: "'Tonight' is a song about people that are usually stressed out, everybody has problems and everything, and 'Tonight' is a song about going out that night and having the best night of your life." Sanchez gives us another reason to vote for her outside of American Idol.
Well, we're happy to report this new track is much stronger than that clunky-ass ballad the show foisted upon her last season, "Change Nothing." They changed everything, with Sanchez and Ne-Yo turning out a fun, if by-the-numbers, dance-pop track. The video features the expected club footage and the unexpected Sanchez-busting-synchronized-moves footage. All in all, a pretty promising start for a teen reality show castoff. The California songstress wants to keep the momentum going, and we braced ourselves for a potential bomb!
The R&B hitmaker and the diminutive teenager singer bring their high energy to the dance floor and light up the club in the Justin Francis-directed dance-heavy visual, which revolves around the club theme. Sanchez and her friends go out to night club to dance their troubles away. There, party-goers will show off their best moves, and Sanchez will execute a choreography, and she obviously takes control of the record from beginning to end. Ne-Yo's ever-present fedora is there and is all confident in his supporting role to the up-and-coming petite pop-R&B singer, letting the young belter take the spotlight with her song-and-dance combo perhaps inspired by what her fellow "Idol" alum, judge Jennifer Lopez does a lot of.

Ne-Yo Stuck In A Nightmare "Forever Now"

Ne-Yo unleashes a steamy and dance-intense cinematic video for his next dance-pop song, "Forever Now," the second international single and fourth overall cut lifted from his fifth studio album, "R.E.D.," which if you watch the clip after jump, you will discover means 'Revealing Every Dream.' It is about heart ache, and the 30-year-old R&B hitmaker struggles with the everlasting feeling of heartbreak, when he loses the woman he planned to spend, well, forever with.
Though "Forever Now," is an uptempo club banger laden with synths, booming drums, and sparkling pop production, that doesn't mean Ne-Yo isn't singing about something totally sad! As opposed to watching him fend off women left and right, in "Forever Now," Ne-Yo begs his woman not to leave him for another dude. "What am I gonna do with forever now?/ I'll live out my life forever following you," he asks himself as he sings in the rain. Ne-Yo' flirtation and passion straight up pulsates through the tune's melodies and our skin!
Having the same nightmare over and over, Ne-Yo reveals the dilemma of having a career and a lover. The R&B gentleman sings away his sorrows as he sees his girl give her heart to another man. He struggles with the situation while going about his business, answering questions at a press conference and rehearsing for a performance with his dancers. If Ne-Yo could turn back the hands of time, he certainly would back track. So for R.E.D.'s new choreographic clip, he really just wants that old thing back. Is he too late?
What does Ne-Yo do with Forever now? In the clip we see a lovestruck Ne-Yo battling with what to do with his future love now she has been seen kissing another guy! Ne-Yo may not technically be stuck in a dream as losing one's love is more like a waking nightmare, but he's definitely entered into one of our nighttime fantasies in this Ryan Pallotta-directed video. Conor Maynard Goes Flying In "Turn Around"

British sensation Conor Maynard has recently released a brand new music video for his latest party track, "Turn Around," the third single from 19-year-old British singer's debut studio album, "Contrast." To add to his street cred, Maynard brought on multi-platinum rapper Ne-Yo to make it a legendary duet. The video finds the teen heartthrob taking his talents to the streets and a flying phone booth as he croons the lyrics to "Turn Around."
It was the three time Grammy winner R&B singer who created the initial buzz about Maynard after he watched the teen singer perform a cover version of his track "Beautiful Monster," on YouTube, then contacted him afterwards. "Working with Ne-Yo was very fun, I think for me I was nervous, if I'm honest. Everything he does is very precise, he's a very stylish guy," Maynard raves to the two fan interviewers.
Maynard described the song to The Sun as being, "the one that is going to get stadium crowds on their feet, partying like they are in Vegas." The poor Maynard may have been cruelly dumped by his girlfriend over MSN Messenger when he was 13, but it's safe to say things have picked up tenfold since. "Turn around, open your eyes/ Look at me now/ Turn around, girl I've got you/ We won't fall down," he promises his new beau over a mix of euphoric Italo piano riffs and pacing house beats, all worthy of the air-grabbing displayed in the accompanying music video.
The Colin Tilley-directed nicely glossy video was filmed in Los Angeles, and if you ever wondered what it would be like to fly around in a telephone booth and cozies up with a pretty girl, well, it's got your answer. The clip feature Maynard dances in an empty street and jets around the sky over the LA River getting a bit saucy with a ladyfriend inside in a Matrix-like paradox filled with telephone boxes. Later, Ne-Yo appears and dances in the street too, and Maynard falls from a building in the end.

Ne-Yo gets his dance on in "Let Me Love You"

Ne-Yo released his new upbeat single, "Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself)," earlier on this month. Now, in a rather sudden and surprising move, the 32-year-old R&B crooner put on his dancing shoes, has now followed it up with a visual to go along with the record. Self-love is pretty easy to do when Ne-Yo lends a helping hand. And he brought it all along with some fancy footwork in his steamy clip.
Ne-Yo's "Lazy Love" didn't make quite the impact that he was hoping to achieve on the charts so he has classed it as just a promotional release and opted to issue another new song, "Let Me Love You," as his lead single from his forthcoming new album, "R.E.D.," which is an acronym for "Realizing Every Dream," and will drops in stores September 18th. However, instead of being a complete ode to the dance floor, the track incorporates slight R&B undertones, thanks to Ne-Yo's vocal performance.
As with most of today's R&B, Ne-Yo takes "Let Me Love You" in the Euro-dance direction musically. As for the Christopher Sims-directed visual, Ne-Yo puts down his best Michael Jackson moves and picks up some serious choreography. Ne-Yo dances with his group of dancers as scenes of him and his lady friend frolicking around the bedroom. Unlike most dance-themed clips that focus on the club scenes, he was actually doing his own moves. Hopefully, "Let Me Love You" performs better on the charts than "Lazy Love."
Ne-Yo is well-versed in the book of love. He's read it front to back, memorized certain sections and scribbled in the margins. Unfortunately, his lady is relatively unschooled, and in his new clip, the R&B star tutors her the best way he knows how. His methods involve donning a fedora and blazer and dancing it up Michael Jackson-style, as he grooves to the track. It seems to work, as Ne-Yo does plenty of smooching with his hottie costar. He also busts plenty of killer moves, which is to be expected, given the track's radio-friendly four-to-the-floor club beat. Consider this a contender for song of the summer.

Timbaland Throwing His "Hands In The Air"

Timbaland is back with a bang and team up with the R&B sensation Ne-Yo yet again, and premiered an incredibly high quality video for their fist-pumping dance/urban/pop collaboration, "Hands in the Air." The club festive party anthem isn't a single from Super-producer's new album. Rather, the record was featured on soundtrack of the upcoming never-ending dance movie, "Step Up Revolution."
"Step Up Revolution" is the fourth movie in the "Step Up" franchise. It follows 2010's "Step Up 3-D." The latest installment revolves around a group of dancers who use their dancing abilities in protesting and supporting their beliefs and principles. The movie will be in theaters July 27th. The 40-year-old Hip-Hop icon has been hard at work as he prepares for his long awaited comeback album and his new video shows exactly how far he has come from his obese past.
As a special treat, Kathryn McCormick, the actress and dancer who tackles the lead role of Emily in the upcoming film also appears in the video. The Marc Klassfeld-directed energetic video features a basic 'nightclub' theme, and is set inside a night club with a large crowd of people partying, full energy and moving their bodies and throwing their 'hands in the air' to the beat of the bass thumping track. The video also show us exclusive new footage from the actual "Step Up Revolution" film.
The clip opens with Timbaland by the bar flirting with McCormick who will try to further catch the attention of the hit-maker producer by breaking into a sexy number using a so-sexy, so-wow chair routine with a few of her girl-friends, while Ne-Yo is getting a private lap-dance show in the red-lighted room, and again proves he's one of the best R&B acts who can 'cross over' to the dance genre without a flaw. Splashed with a lot of colors literally, the clip ends with the dancers are doused in different colors of paint as they continue to dance along to the upbeat track.

Calvin Harris and Ne-Yo teamed up for "Let's Go"

Calvin Harris has released the music video for new club killer "Let's Go," the third single from Scottish DJ's upcoming untitled third studio album, which is highly anticipated by his fans. The original radio edit features vocals from American pop and R&B Artist Ne-Yo, who is such a gorgeously bouncy electro-house tune that within just the first few bars, you can tell it's destined to become a summer anthem.
"It's not about what you've done, it's about what you're doing, no matter where you've been, Let's go!" the 28-year-old R&B entertainer aptly states over his unmistakable electronic flourishes of euphoric synths and speaker-jumping beats, which was used in the UK to soundtrack an impressive footballer-starring Pepsi Max ad campaign. Coincidentally, the final result isn't too different from the fizzy beverage; it's sparkling, addictive and sure to give you a burst of energy.
It sounds very much like a Harris song, - however while Ne-Yo's voice is always lovely, it intrudes a bit on this track. Instead Harris could have tried leaving Ne-Yo's voice out of the chorus leaving more music to dance to. It worked for "We Found Love," after all. The DJ and his featured guest invite people to get on the dance floor with his upbeat anthem, and the clip culminates with the disc jokey spinning his turntable for a large number of revelers and his featured guest performing in a live concert.
Harris's romantic, fun and vibrant video features three couples in Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, and Los Angeles take a whirlwind day out through their home towns. Rio sees the couple take a bike ride along the sunny streets, in Tokyo the couple take part in a dance off before hitting a club, and in LA the couple train in a gym before hanging out with Ne-Yo at the end. All three couples end up at Harris's concert where the Scottish producer spins tunes behind the DJ booth, and leads them to a massive crowd dance party.

Jennifer Hudson Is A Boss In "Think Like a Man"

Showing off her latest musical accomplishment, Jennifer Hudson who appears to be more relaxed and in better shape than ever, has just released a music video for her new club banger "Think Like a Man." The "American Idol" alum caught the attention of two gentlemen Kevin Hart and Ne-Yo, but she falls the latter, along with “The Bawse” Rick Ross to help Hudson tell the story of a black woman's real-life relationship drama who taking control of her life.
The 30-year-old 'Where You At' singer portrays a strong independent woman in Chris Robinson-directed new video, which is a teaser for the forthcoming new flick based on the comedian and syndicated radio host Steve Harvey's self-help relationship book "Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man." The new film, set to open wide in U.S. theaters on April 20, follows four men who have their love lives turned upside down as their ladies begin to take advice.
Hudson hits us with some Santigold-esque notes with Ne-Yo on the upbeat track while Rick Ross comes in rappin a few bars for the hustlerz. The film "Think Like A Man" stars Kelly Rowland, Taraji P. Heson, Michael Ealy, Morris Chestnut, and singer Chris Brown, while the video features Kevin Hart trying hard to win the heart of Hudson by repeatedly asked her out, but decides she'd rather spend more one-on-one time with Ne-Yo, who steps in as the smooth criminal. Nothing groundbreaking, but it definitely drives the message home.
Hudson addresses the ladies on this one and advises them that should Act Like A Lady But "Think Like A Man." She shows off dance moves around an office-themed set with a gang of secretary backup dancers, while Ne-Yo and Rick Ross work their magic on the track. Robinson describes that the concept comes from the need for women to be more empowered: "The concept is derived from the film and the thought process is that women need to always act like a lady and be a woman, but think like a man, take up for yourself and be strong."

Ne-Yo & Trey Songz Love "The Way You Move"

Ne-Yo enlists fellow R&B crooners Trey Songz and T-Pain, to join him spend a night by hitting a gentleman's club to bring their collaboration to life in the stripper-filled erotic clip for their joint track "The Way You Move," a song sure to be blasting out of a radio near you pretty soon. Awash in blue, red and purple lights, the three R&B power houses continue to drop impassioned one-liners, while enjoying the sultry show of lap and pole dancing.
The sensual and auto-tuned ballad song is recorded for DJ Boy Wonda's latest mixtape "Tough Love." It's to tide fans over while the three of them are preparing for their own albums. Ne-Yo is working on the follow-up to 2010's "Libra Scale," Songz is working on a new effort called "Chapter 5," while T-Pain is going to release "RevolveR" on December 6.
In this smoothed out track, the cleanly dressed dress trio hit the club to watch their favorite ladies move together and sing about their adoration and infatuation with the sexy dancers who they've falling for, simple because of the way she moves. The video does not stray far from that theme. "The Way You Move" gives each crooner their shine and they deliver very nicely. The video is definitely for the grown and sexy, with plenty of eye candy for the fellas.
In the provocative Clifton Bell-helmed visual, the guys hit the strip club where they meet one dancer who's considering giving all of it up. While a typically dapper Ne-Yo serenades an exotic dancer that has caught his eye. As he pleads with her to not quit her night gig, and encourage her to keep "doing what's in her soul." Songz is also looking dandy in a black tuxedo as he watches his favorite lady work the pole, while woefully croons of his beloved stripper. To complete the trifecta, T-Pain who has plenty of experience of being in love with strippers, makes his attempt to keep his favorite exotic dancer with the golden moves working.

Pitbull Throws Big Party In "Give Me Everything"

Cuban-American rapper Pitbull releases a party-themed music video for an equally-fun, and the dancefloor-blazing single "Give Me Everything." The rapper hits the club and invites R&B/pop hitmaker Ne-Yo and up-and-coming singer Nayer as special guests and assigns Dutch dance music producer and DJ Afrojack to turn the table and get the crowd going with his up-beat music.
Following recent collaborations with Jennifer Lopez's "On The Floor" and Usher, the club-ready track "Give Me Everything" leads Pitbull's forthcoming sixth studio album "Planet Pit," which will feature laborations from Akon, Chris Brown and T-Pain, hits stores on June 21st. The song has feel-good party vibes and syncopated synth hook features production from Dutch dance music producer and DJ Afrojack, while Pitbull spits lyrics directed to his lover.
The song is a high-octane, drum-heavy thumper with whirring, outer-space keyboards combines genres of hip hop, pop, and "Broadway-style theatricality." The electro house number continues to crank up the dance floor scene. With its infectious beat and Ne-Yo's crooning chorus of telling a girl he's interested in, this track has the right formula to please club-goers and may very well be the next party anthem. Sexy is one thing this track exudes, so obviously the music video for "Give Me Everything" would have the same effect!
Pitbull lives in the moment in the feel-good video, which was directed by David Rousseau at the famous Alexandria Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, and captures the song's essence and shows a non-stop party, and also features an appearance from 27-year-old beauty Adrienne Bailon, who is the former member of The Cheetah Girls, among the partygoers. And how appropriate that the song namedrops Kodak and its new line of cameras get a handy product placement since Pitbull is the pitchman for the "So Kodak" brand. Ne-Yo Dances Heart Out To Win 'One in a Million'

Smooth crooner Ne-Yo really is dropping these music videos like its hot. He strikes yet again with a brand new video for his new single "One In A Million," which is a continuation of where his last two videos, "Champagne Life" & "Beautiful Monster." The smooth mid-tempo cut is adopting the title of Aaliyah's classic tune, and the third single off his upcoming fourth studio album "Libra Scale," set to drop in stores on October 5. The latest installment in Ne-Yo's mini movie features him trying to charm his way into the heart of a young woman who is clearly not interested. Check out the video to see if Ne-Yo's charming ways, wizardry, and smooth steps actually win the girl over after the jump.
"One in a Million" is crafted like a screenplay. The record tells the story of three garbage men, Jerome, Clyde and Leroy, who are granted everything they could ever want including superpowers. However, there's a catch: they can never fall in love. When Jerome falls for vivacious no-nonsense stunner Ms. "One in a Million" Pretti Sinclair, she contracts a strain of his super-powers and suffers an adverse reaction that effectively drives her crazy. In this song Jerome meets the sarcastic Sinclair for the first time and her welcome for him is anything but warm. In an interview with Essence magazine, Ne-Yo was asked about his inspiration for the song's music video. He replied: "Libra Scale's visual inspiration comes from my love of dark movies like 'The Matrix' or 'The Dark Knight' but also from my love of romantic comedies. This element is showcased more in part 3: "One in a Million."
"One in a Million" is an R&B ballad, very catchy and filled with heart-felt lyrics that should make any woman swoon, but it just doesn't seem to work for poor Ne-Yo. He tries everything from floating roses to breaking out into an impromptu choreographed dance routine in the middle of the street to impress his dream girl. The woman is extremely resistant through all of his attempts and one can't help but remember Ne-Yo being told not to fall in love in the second video. The new video for "One in a Million" recalls Micheal Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel," the gloved one's 1987 girl-chasing clip. Instead of following a vixen through an alley in the middle of the night with a posse of dancing goons, Ne-Yo and a gang of gentlemen prance through city streets clean in shirts, slacks, and wingtips. Ne-Yo, a self-described M.J. fanatic, does a wonderful job being true to himself without turning this into a corny carbon copy. We can see Jackson's influence, but there's no crotch-grabbing plagiarism.
"One in a Million" has the power to put that love-stricken smile on any woman's face. Catchy yet relatively simple, the rhythmic Indian drum beat courtesy of Chuck Harmony and Ne-Yo's sexy, buttery voice make you truly believe the girl he's singing to is actually one in a million. The sugar sweet lyrics melt the soul, and are sure to be the inspiration for wedding vows everywhere this fall. In addition, look out for Million's music video, since the entire album is based on a short story Ne-Yo wrote and is bringing to life in a series of ten minute music videos. The 30-year-old has become so good at transitioning his style of singing close to Michael Jackson's vocal range that it’s become pretty uncanny. The track, a mid-tempo joint sure to bring the summer to a smooth close.

American R&B singer-songwriter Ne-Yo took over BET's "106 & Park" on Wednesday evening, premiered the dual story-driven videos, "Beautiful Monster" and "Champagne Life." The first time that "106 & Park" has ever hosted a double video premiere of such lengthy clips. 3-time Grammy Award-winning superstar's movie career over the past five years has had a profound effect on his work as a composer revealed in the cinematic story-line of his upcoming fourth album, "Libra Scale," dropping on September 21 and would form part of a larger overall visual narrative.
Ne-Yo collaborates once again with producers Stargate for "Beautiful Monster," the first single from new album, is an uptempo dance song, containing new rave, Eurodisco, Europop, and Ibiza influences, featuring Ne-Yo's R&B vocals over "strobing dancefloor beats." After a sizzling performance of "Beautiful Monster" on FOX's So You Think You Can Dance on July 1, Ne-Yo traveled to London to preview tracks at the swanky Hospital venue one week later. Tastemakers had a chance to sample the album's narrative, threading through each of the songs, as explained by Ne-Yo, who takes on superhero powers in two new clips.
The R&B gentleman gets a taste of the good life in the video for "Champagne Life," but the story takes a dangerous turn in "Beautiful Monster." "'Beautiful Monster' is one piece of a very long and intricate story," Ne-Yo revealed. "When you see the first video, make sure that you're paying attention because all of the videos tell a story. So pay attention — you don't want to miss nothing." In "Beautiful Monster," Ne-Yo is portrayed as a disheveled superhero, à la Will Smith in "Hancock," who must battle his former flame Princess Sinclair in order to save the world from danger. Fans later learn in the "Champagne Life" video that Ne-Yo's superhero and Sinclair were once romantically involved. As a result, she assumed some of Ne-Yo's powers, but in adverse fashion. The transfer turned Sinclair into Diamond Eye, a "crazy, psycho mass-murderer," as Short's character describes her.
Ne-Yo began his career as a songwriter writing for boyband Youngstown and Mario. The track he wrote for Mario, "Let Me Love You", was a huge success and spent two months at the top of the Billboard chart. He has subsequently written tracks for a host of performers, including Whitney Houston and Britney Spears. His own releases have done as well, his debut album "In My Own Words" went straight to No.1 on the Billboard Top 200 and was nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Album at The Grammys, while the follow-up "Because Of You" sold over one million copies and has also received award nominations.

Ne-Yo Premiered "Never Knew I Needed" Video

Ne-Yo, multi-platinum, 3-time Grammy Award-winning Def Jam recording artist adds a new credits to his long list of successes over the last three year and premiered a brand-new official music video on Myspace Music yesterday for his latest single "Never Knew I Needed". The track will be the featured as the lead single from upcoming new Walt Disney animated motion picture "The Princess & The Frog: Tiana and Her Princess Friends", that will feature the first African American Disney princess. The track was shipped to Urban, Urban AC and Rhythmic radio on October 14, will be available for digital download through the iTunes Music Store on November 3, the ballad will be included in the film's soundtrack album will hit stores on November 23, and the movie, a Broadway-style musical set in the French Quarter of New Orleans and the Louisiana bayou, will open in theatres on December 11.
Since the reigning King of R&B's debut, Ne-Yo(a.k.a Shaffer Chimere Smith) has had five top ten songs on the Billboard Hot 100 as a lead artist and two number-one albums on the Billboard 200. Ne-Yo's always classy style is the perfect fit to give Disney some updated R&B edge, and his vocals soar over lush production and while the lyrics are certainly family friendly, they're far from corny. All told, this might be one of the strongest testaments to his writing ability we've heard since "Irreplaceable."
Ne-Yo re-teams with director Melina ("Closer", "Miss Independent") for the pop theme song' clip which was shot in New Orleans and co-stars a Teairra Mari look-alike, finds the pop star playing a waiter who catches the eye of a beautiful wealthy diner. While her friends shun the lowly servant, she's falling in love. New Orleans serves as the gorgeous backdrop for a middling song. It's Ne-Yo and the many hats he's wearing - thankfully literally - that makes the video watchable. I love the lyrics of the song, especially since there is a dearth of sweet and romantic songs these days. Ne-Yo was the perfect choice to write and sing a song that would fit the movie. Overall, a very nice video and a great song.
Fairy tales do come true in the video, "Never Knew I Needed" puts the warm, romantic feelings in tune without being overtly corny like many big movie tracks. I doubt this will be setting charts alight anywhere, hats off to Ne-Yo for expanding his market. In addition to Ne-Yo's contribution, "The Princess and the Frog" Soundtrack boosts a colorful collection of original songs and a lively orchestral score, both composed and conducted by Randy Newman.
